Hello and welcome back to the blog on my website! Today's update features everything I completed this past October of 2023, and boy it's quite a bit!! Seven faceups and four sets of hands.
This blog entry is special as it features my 600th faceup, and I am just so proud of my progress the last 12 years since I've started painting dolls. Basically I average 50 faceups a year at this rate, though my faceup output has definitely decreased the past couple of years, as I've taken on a lot of body aesthetic commissions as well. I will post about that though in December when I wrap up this year. Either way, today I will share a Fairyland RealFee Toki and a Coco, a Resinsoul Ai, a Telesthesia Doll XunYiChao, a Smart Doll Chaos G07 head, a Fairyland Feeple60 Mirwen with 2 sets of hands, a set of Fairyland Minifee hands, and a Doll Leaves Theresa along with a pair of her hands. Onto some pictures and ramblings under the break!

It's been a good while since I have posted a blog entry here, so it's time to amend that! I have been a busy bee since the last post, and I started a new full time job. Currently I am still finding the balance between doing commissions and working full time, so please bear with me. I will be opening slots come April, since I am making good progress through my current commissions.
Dolls I will show today are a Resinsoul Ju, a Doll Leaves Lan, a small MissNekotaku Chibihana, and to finish posting the faceups for February I will also post my Limhwa EOS Nina. This month so far I have finished two faceups, and I have a couple more on my desk to complete. Once that is all done, I will reopen slots. So without further ado, onto the pictures below the read more break! I have been such a busy bee this past month, and have lots of new work to show. So much in fact that I will need to split them up over two blog posts as to not be utterly overwhelming. It really is a lot!
Today I will show my Volks YoSD Ayumu, a Dollshe Molly, and my Resinsoul Ai, who is my 500th completed faceup. This also means I will post my giant faceup collage. I will need to start a new one! Without further ado, onto the pictures under the cut! I've been really dropping the ball here, and I want to apologize for that. 2020 has been getting to me like everyone else, and the weather as well as my day job have been wearing me down. But, I am still trying to work through my backlog.
This post will show a lot of new work, such as the Resinsoul Twilight centaur body, Resinsoul Dai body, jointed hands in SD and MSD size from Resinsoul, a Fairyland MNF Dark Elf Soo, and my Doll in Mind Bellosse. Without further ado, onto the pictures under the cut! So here is my second post to show some more work I got done over the last month or so! I still haven't gotten to documenting the Resinsoul Twilight body, but she is done as well. I'm hoping to document her maybe tonight or tomorrow morning.
Things to show today are a Peakswoods FOF Rabbit Goon, a Telesthesia Doll FeiHuaDeng, and a Resinsoul Dai. Without further ado, onto some pictures under the break! So I've really dropped the ball on updating my website in a timely manner when I finished working on dolls. At least it's better late than never!
Things I've worked on lately were once again my Dollzone Daomiao (I hosted a small workshop over Discord), the Resinsoul Mei body, and I dented the Resinsoul Twilight commission. So good progress, but plenty more to do! Without further ado, onto the pictures under the break! First, my new prices have gone live as of last week, but I'm not quite ready to take on more commissions yet as I just had some that arrive yesterday that I accepted several months ago (they were sent from the companies straight to me). I'd like to at least get one of those done before I reopen my slots!
But now to get to the meat of this post. I got to paint an Atelier Momoni Somni, an Iplehouse FID Leonard, and another Resinsoul Mei. Without further ado, onto some pictures under the break! Cranked out a couple more face ups this week, one on a Fairyland MNF Momo and the other on my own Resinsoul Ai. I finally reached 400 completed face ups since I started painting dolls in August/September of 2011! The MNF Momo was a commission from a dear local friend, and the Resinsoul Ai is one of my own. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up we have the Fairyland MNF Momo in natural skin. She belongs to a dear friend of mine, who also asked me to make her some eyes. I let them pick the color (lavender) and made them with acrylic bases in 12mm. 14mm eyes were far too big and her original eyes were also way too dark. She had come to me with a Default face up (and too big eyes), but my friend wanted her to be a lot more pink. The default face up was very pretty, but not exactly flattering, especially how they did her mouth. And here we have my Resinsoul Ai in fleshtone skin from 2011 named Zephyra. This face up is very special as it is my 400th! I finally reached this wonderful milestone, and to celebrate it I repainted Zephyra. It's tradition for me to repaint her every 99 face ups to be the next 100th. I always keep the theme the same, so that I can track my improvement better. Hard to believe that it only took 2 years to paint 99 face ups (and a bunch of fantasy and body parts) to get here. She's gone through so many face ups, only doll with that many in my collection is Val (Dollzone Chen), who I think I've also painted 5 times. I'll need to check at some point to see. Again, for this face up I used Citadel Munitorum Varnish for sealant, and I'm still having difficulties with it. It has a lot less tooth than MSC, so I had to layer quite a bit more than I usually do. But, shimmer shows up much better post-sealing with this sealant. MSC likes to pretty much dull it away unless I paint it on. Reaching 400 face ups also means that I can share my monster collage again. On my computer it's all one very long image file, but I broke it apart here so it's easier to zoom in and look at the face ups.
Man... I started this collage when I reached 50 face ups, that's why the first image was really.... diverse in backgrounds. I eventually figured out that keeping the same background is a better idea for unity! It also wasn't until last year that I got a photo light box to take pictures in. My documentation pictures definitely improved once I acquired one of those. Still learning how to set my camera for it so I don't have to do as much post-photo color and lighting corrections. That is all from me for today, until next time! I was a busy busy bee these past few weekends and managed to complete two huge multipart commissions! There's so much to show I'm going to have to put things under the cut.
I completed the Nefer Kane Mystery Elf, Nefer Kane Sarina, Doll Chateau Snowman, and the Resinsoul Nian! I still have a lot more to work on of course, but I'm hoping to do that today despite the rain... Anyway, pictures under the cut! I finally finished up the Resinsoul Sui, now all that's left from that client is a Resinsoul Nian. The Sui left my whole desk purple, and so many cotton balls gave their life for his blushing! He was truly a labor of love. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble by just learning to use my airbrush, but I'd rather not experiment on client dolls... But anyway, onto some pictures! First up, his head. He's in white skin and his color scheme is purple and black. He actually currently has a silver wig, but I think a deep violet or black would be amazing on him too! I fought with the eyes because they are too big (Resinsoul included them). I haven't done scales like this in a while, but they look good on him! Next up is his body blush. He has muscles on his muscles. This boy is ripped. I extended the scales from the tail onto his back and blushed his body with purples again to match his overall theme. He also got restrung and sueded too! And to finish up showing his pictures, here's the rest of his fantasy parts in detail. Clawed hands, lizard feet, wings, and his tail. I didn't take a picture of the other side of his tail, but it's just a light violet, nothing too special. You can see it in one of the body blush pictures though!
I'm still very much closed for new commissions. I don't see myself re-opening until late September at the earliest... And I'll have to cut down on how many parts I accept per slot. With working 10 hour days my free time is very small and restricted to weekends only. I feel bad making my clients wait so long on face ups and such. For this client I have 1 more doll to work on, who needs a face up, body blush, restringing and sueding, fantasy parts blush, basically an all over job. Then for another client I have another 3 dolls to work on, and from a friend I have a smol Doll Family-A Luca dear to paint. Thank you guys for being so patient with me!! That's all from me for now, until next time! It's been a while since I've thrown an update up here. Work has been good, though it eats up my weekdays like no tomorrow. So I've had to cram my commissions into the weekend because I just can't logistically work on them during the weekdays (I work 9-10 hour days and commute for 2 hours every day). Anyway, that hasn't stopped me from making progress on my large commission list! The main doll I've been working on is the Resinsoul Sui. His colors are black and purple. His wings are huge, they are the length of my lower arm. Since I'm a herp derp and don't know how to use an airbrush, I've been blushing everything by hand with pastels. Let me show what I've done on him so far! Here's everything I've done on him so far. His head and fantasy parts are all done, all that's left now is the body. I got the first layer on the body almost done, and then I'll seal and do a second layer to make the colors pop more. Please excuse the crappy quality pictures, they were taken with my cell phone.
I've also restrung and sueded him, as well as fixed a broken finger. He arrived to me with a finger broken off and I decided to fix it good. I drilled a hole into the hand and the finger, inserted a metal bar coated in superglue, filled in the minor gaps with epoxy and once it was all cured I sanded it smooth. The first two times I tried to fix the finger with just super glue or epoxy it wouldn't hold. That is all for now, until next time! I had a very productive Saturday yesterday, I did 3 face ups from start to finish! I painted a HZ Wang-Ye in tan skin, a Fairyland MNF RFA event head in natural skin, and a Resinsoul Rong head in white skin. The two MSD sized heads were from one client, and the Wang-Ye was from another. I have one more doll to do for that client and everyone can go home! Anyway, without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the HZ Wang-Ye, or as the client calls him "Mr. Angry-Face". He came with a face up already which the client wanted me to redo with more anger in the brows. Before he kinda just looked like "Meh", now he's full on rage! Figuring out the blushing palette was interesting as his resin is kind of translucent. Here's his before and after image. The client asked me to keep the designs as close as possible like on the first face up, but with some small modifications. He's definitely an angry doll! Next up are the two MSD sized heads for a different client! I always love working on their dolls. First up is the Fairyland MNF RFA event head in natural skin. With this face up I was asked for freckles along the cheeks and nose, natural blushing and make up. I always love doing freckles, pity hardly any of my dolls have them! Then last, but certainly not least, is the Resinsoul Rong in white skin. She's a woodland sprite/nymph and I was asked to keep her color scheme in tune with that, but otherwise I had a lot of freedom. She was oddly yellowed in the face, which is really strange as she's been in a bag since the client dropped her off with me. I managed to cover it with the face up at least!
That's all for now, until next time! I finished documenting the rest of the Ringdoll Teen Melody and her DikaDoll 1/3 Jointed Girl Hands in white skin. I also reached a huge milestone for myself. I got to 300 completed face ups! The Impldoll Isaac from the last post was #299, so I redid my Resinsoul Ai named Zephyra as #300, because it's tradition. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Ringdoll Teen Girl body in normal skin and the DikaDoll 1/3 Jointed Girl hands that go with her. She's rosier in person, but my camera always washes out the details. I really should invest in a light box, but that'll have to wait until I'm in Austria. I'm getting all jittery at this point for the big move! I also snapped a picture of the Ringdoll Teen Melody with her wig on to show to the client. They are happy with the work! Now to work on the rest of their commissions! I still got a Loongsoul White Tiger Ye and another head to work on for them. Now onto the big #300! As a tradition I always redo my Resinsoul Ai when I reach a new 100th. She was originally my first face up, then my 100th, 200th, and now 300th! I like to always redo her in the same theme to see how I've improved in 99 face ups. It's kind of silly to always redo her, but I've stuck with it! Anyway onto the pictures! She's a wind/ice themed character, and I have a love for painting swirls. She's been in my collection the longest, I received her in June of 2011. I've hybrided her on a DF-A 60cm girl body with modded thighs to accommodate the Soom FC Beryl hooves. I really like how she turned out this time! The first face up I had some help with on the eyebrows and eyelashes because I was getting a private face up workshop from a friend. The 100th face up I waaaay over blushed, and I was still using watercolor pencils. The 200th face up is very pale but nicely done. My favorite is definitely the 300th now, just the right amount of blushing, blending, and fantasy aspects. That's it for now! Still got more stuff to work on. I think I'm staying closed with my face up shop until after I move to Austria. It's crunch time now and I can't take on anymore and hope to get them done in time...
Anyway, until next time! It's been a looooong week for me work wise so it felt good to work on dolls today a bit! I mostly did modding work, I'm hoping to actually face up tomorrow! I finally dyed the Ringdoll Fat Happiness to a nice chocolate tan color. It didn't turn out very even, but it's still decent for my first time dyeing a doll. I had already sanded him completely as he had a previous dye job that hadn't gone too well. The client is happy with the dye job, so now I can finally give him a face up! What amazed me the most with the Fat Happiness is that he's a lot bigger than I thought! He's a large YoSD! Either way, I used iDye Poly in brown to get him this color. I kept increasing the timer to get all the pieces the same color roughly! It's amazing how different he looks from when he first arrived to me. Then here's the other doll I modded today, a Resinsoul Mei in light tan/coffee color. The client only wanted me to give her fangs, they are going to try their hand at giving her a face up themselves. I was happy to do the mod for them. Once the fangs cure fully I'm going to clean up the grey on the lip.
That's it for now from me, until next time! I hope everyone in the USA is having a nice 4th of July here. My day was fabulous! I'm finally back in my own home after living with my mom for two weeks post her surgery. She's recovering well, though she's still got a ways to go before she's back at 100%. My mom is a trooper though! Anyway, since I'm back home, I've been able to work on commissions again. You guys have no idea how much I missed working on dolls! This also means I'm open for commissions again. I managed to finish today a Resinsoul Mei on the Rong body in fleshtone skin. She's a spunky fairy with fiery red hair. The client had her directly sent to me from the company, and is her first doll on top of it! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the face detail shots. I'm really liking the fat little eyebrows on her, which are very different from the usual style I do. Then again, I do enjoy pushing myself outside of my comfort zone! Also this is the 5th Mei I've worked on so far. It is such a versatile sculpt! She also got a body blush with freckles and a manicure as well. I haven't done a fully body blush in a natural manner in quite a while, so it was refreshing to do so once again.
I really like the sculpting on the Rong hands, they are so lovely. The body is definitely better (in my eyes) than the single jointed one Mei usually comes on. I may suede it a little, just to help out with posing a bit. Now I'm going to wind down for the evening, enjoy some chocolate, and try not to get spooked by the first fireworks. Until next time! |
