I have several new things to show, but for once I will go into the FYI first before I show the newest work:
I recently lost my job, and due to how they let me go, I cannot get unemployment until April because I am technically still employed until the end of this month (March 2021). I am gonna have to be frugal with my spending, to stretch my savings as much as I can. Don't worry, my wife and I have an emergency fund that covers 3 months of our expenses. Fortunately my wife is still employed, so there's a good chance we can stretch the emergency fund even further.
As to what this means for my commissions, is that I raised my prices. I've been undercharging for ages considering the skill and experience that I have. Thank you for understanding!
All current commissions that I have agreed to take on will remain at the quoted price. So no sudden extra charges for those!
Now, for the work I want to show I have my Dragondoll Cheng, a Gulliver Small Studio Xiaoxi Micro Mermaid, and the Iplehouse J.I.D. Body. Be warned, the last set of pictures has doll nudity.
Without further ado, onto some pictures under the break!
I'm on a roll! I repainted Mort, my Dragondoll Cheng in white skin, finally!! Only took me, what, 5 and a half years? I somehow stripped the years off of him though as he's usually meant to be an older character. Now he kind of looks like a J-pop star or something. I blame the eyelashes. I'm leaving the face up in place to see if it grows on me more.
Without further ado, onto some pictures!
Seems like my last few face ups have all been a very blue theme, though this guy is meant to have light blue skin but is white so I blushed him accordingly. He's yellowed a lot over the last 6 years, he used to be a lot brighter in color! No big deal though, he's from 2009 and I've owned him since 2011 (I'm his first owner, poor guy sat in a warehouse for 2 years!). He was a gift from my mom for Christmas, but I got him during the Junkyspot black Friday sale in 2011.
Here are all the face ups he's had to date. The top left corner was his company default and made him look like a vulcan drag queen. Nothing against Vulcans, drag queens, or a combo, but he simply isn't one.
The top right face up was my 8th face up ever, but I didn't have his wig yet so I couldn't properly color match. Then the bottom left was my 20th face up that I kept on him for over 5 years because it was just that perfect. It became outdated though... now the bottom right face up is his current look where I tried to give him eyelashes again for my 308th face up.
We'll see how long I keep this face up on him. Hopefully not another 5.5 years! At least now I know that my face ups can stand the test of time, haha!
I'll end the post here with a dashing picture of him put together. Until next time!
I tried my hand at doing an elf ear mod on my DragonDoll Caesar head. I'm rather pleased with the results.
His ears are technically not done yet, I still need to add some sculpted feathers along the edges.
I'm thinking of offering elf ear mods as a services as well since I have a ton of apoxie sculpt that I'd love to use.
In other news, the DC Bella has arrived so I'll be starting work on her either tomorrow or Thursday. I'm looking forward to it! She's such a beautiful sculpt.
Well, this one was fun! When I first got him, he looked like a Vulcan drag queen to me. Nothing against vulcans, drag queens, or even vulcan drag queens, but Mort just isn't one. So I wiped his face up and did my own. Sadly I wasn't very good yet, my blushing was nice, but my eyebrows and lips were horrible. Also it took me a good 45 minutes to scrub his face semi clean. Dragondoll certainly seals their face ups well!
Either way, about half a year later I looked at him again and decided, "Mort, I'm going to make you look like a dragon warrior!" so I wiped him again and started over. I am much happier with his face up now, as is he.
