I managed to sneak back home for a morning on Saturday and finished up the Doll Chateau Larry I'd been working on for a friend. She asked for purple and sparkly, so I happily complied.
Let's get to some pictures!
She was a lot of fun to work on, the shell was an interesting challenge to get done. Painting eyelashes was tricky because of the way her eyes are sculpted underneath. Either way, she's a cutie!
I will end this post with a full body picture of her. I couldn't get her wig to sit on her head right, so I finally just gave up and took bald pictures instead.
Have a good one!
Sorry guys, I haven't been able to work on commissions for the past week or so because my mother had surgery and I've been staying with her to help her and my stepdad out during her recovery. I don't know yet when I'll be able to get home again to finally work on commissions. I haven't even had the chance to work on my own dolls!
Anyway, I am going to try to get some work done, I don't know yet when I'll be able to resume my own life again as the recovery is going slow for my mom. I've been slowly going insane not being able to be creative and work on dolls.
Oh! I did raise my prices a little for body blushes as they are time consuming and take up a lot more materials than just a face up, so I increased the price by $5 on those services.
In happier news, I'm almost at my goal for this year already, which was to get to 250 completed face ups! I'm right now at 247, and I have heads to paint at home, but no opportunity to work on them yet...
I will end this post with a picture of my doll Melody. The sunrise made her look like she was on fire.
Until next time, and thanks for understanding!
My Doll Chateau Snow Nymph took a tumble the other week and face planted onto her glasses, scratching through her sealant and into her resin. It was an accident so I wasn't mad, but I was sad she got damaged.
Either way, I wanted to get through some commissions first before I tried to fix her. Fortunately the scratches weren't deep and I was able to heat them out and then wet sand the rest of the forehead to even out everything again. Then I repainted her and I personally think she's even cuter than before!
I'm much happier with her blushing and lips this time around. I still need to take some better pictures of her in daylight time.
Just the quick comparison of her old face up to her new one. I feel like I over-blushed the bridge of her nose a little, but it's not too bad. I definitely like how her lips turned out this time.
That's all from me for now!
I finally finished the eye mod and face up on the Mirodoll Lele yesterday. He was an interesting challenge to work on, and only the second eye mod I've ever done. The first was an eye-closing mod on a Dollzone April where I modded her from open to dreaming. The sculpting is very strange on the Mirodoll Lele, but I did my best with him!
Anyway, onto some pictures!
Here he is in all his glory. I've jokingly nicknamed him Mr. Anger because of the pronounced brow bone.
And here's the before and after mod picture of him. His eyes were far to wide, close together, and narrow. Modding the eyes was definitely a learning curve. Good thing I still have all of my sculpting tools!
I used Apoxie Sculpt in bright white (I think that's the color) and then color matched it afterwards with watercolor paint. I'm slowly starting to debate offering mod work regularly rather than on a request basis.
Either way, that's all from me for now!
I managed to finish up working on a manicure and tattoo job on a Fairyland MNF arm and #6 hands. I was given free reign with the tattoo as long as it was henna-looking, but the design was completely up to me. I had a lot of fun with it and added a small ring to the other hand.
Without further ado, let's get some pictures!
Here's first some details of the manicure and ring mod I did on the hands. I had a lot of fun with both, the ring mod was very easy and fun to do. This is actually the first time I've ever worked on MNF hands, and I even used to own one! I'm silly I know, but generally I don't really blush my own dolls hands or bodies.
Then finally here are the detail shots of the henna tattoo I did on the right arm and hand. I can't wait to see this on the doll! Fortunately I do know I will as the client is a friend of mine and I love seeing her dolls!
I also started working on the Doll Chateau Larry and am almost done with the Doll Chateau Jakov. I just have to deepen the color on his wings and the Larry I had to stop working on as it started to rain so I couldn't seal. The bane of a face up artist, the unfavorable weather!
Anyway, that's all from me for now! Have a lovely rest of your weekend guys!
