First, my new prices have gone live as of last week, but I'm not quite ready to take on more commissions yet as I just had some that arrive yesterday that I accepted several months ago (they were sent from the companies straight to me). I'd like to at least get one of those done before I reopen my slots!
But now to get to the meat of this post. I got to paint an Atelier Momoni Somni, an Iplehouse FID Leonard, and another Resinsoul Mei.
Without further ado, onto some pictures under the break!
It's been a looooong week for me work wise so it felt good to work on dolls today a bit! I mostly did modding work, I'm hoping to actually face up tomorrow!
I finally dyed the Ringdoll Fat Happiness to a nice chocolate tan color. It didn't turn out very even, but it's still decent for my first time dyeing a doll. I had already sanded him completely as he had a previous dye job that hadn't gone too well. The client is happy with the dye job, so now I can finally give him a face up!
What amazed me the most with the Fat Happiness is that he's a lot bigger than I thought! He's a large YoSD! Either way, I used iDye Poly in brown to get him this color. I kept increasing the timer to get all the pieces the same color roughly! It's amazing how different he looks from when he first arrived to me.
Then here's the other doll I modded today, a Resinsoul Mei in light tan/coffee color. The client only wanted me to give her fangs, they are going to try their hand at giving her a face up themselves. I was happy to do the mod for them. Once the fangs cure fully I'm going to clean up the grey on the lip.
That's it for now from me, until next time!
I hope everyone in the USA is having a nice 4th of July here. My day was fabulous! I'm finally back in my own home after living with my mom for two weeks post her surgery. She's recovering well, though she's still got a ways to go before she's back at 100%. My mom is a trooper though!
Anyway, since I'm back home, I've been able to work on commissions again. You guys have no idea how much I missed working on dolls! This also means I'm open for commissions again.
I managed to finish today a Resinsoul Mei on the Rong body in fleshtone skin. She's a spunky fairy with fiery red hair. The client had her directly sent to me from the company, and is her first doll on top of it!
Without further ado, onto some pictures!
First up are the face detail shots. I'm really liking the fat little eyebrows on her, which are very different from the usual style I do. Then again, I do enjoy pushing myself outside of my comfort zone! Also this is the 5th Mei I've worked on so far. It is such a versatile sculpt!
She also got a body blush with freckles and a manicure as well. I haven't done a fully body blush in a natural manner in quite a while, so it was refreshing to do so once again.
I really like the sculpting on the Rong hands, they are so lovely. The body is definitely better (in my eyes) than the single jointed one Mei usually comes on. I may suede it a little, just to help out with posing a bit.
Now I'm going to wind down for the evening, enjoy some chocolate, and try not to get spooked by the first fireworks. Until next time!
I finally got to 230 completed face ups! This is also my 4th face up on a Resinsoul Mei. It's such a pretty and versatile sculpt. I also blushed some Withdoll MSD Boy Hands with the face up. The RS Mei is in fleshtone (which is a normal pink color), and the hands are in white skin. I was asked to blush a happy medium tone between the two.
First up, the face up on the Resinsoul Mei. He's an elf boy, and for inspiration I was given pictures of Legolas and Thranduil from Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit. I wasn't sent eyes with so I just used some spare ones I had laying around.
Then here we have the Withdoll MSD boy hands in white skin. They were a lot of fun to blush, I used the same colors as I did on the face up to pull it all together.
And just a picture of the hands with the head. It obviously isn't a perfect match, but I didn't want to go too pink as then the hands would look weird on the body.
Now that the work's been shown, it's time to post an updated face up portfolio collage! It just keeps getting bigger and bigger!
What a lovely sight! It's always so much fun for me to look over this collage and see how much I've improved since starting to do face ups in late 2011. I've been at it about 4.5 years now. What a ride it's been!
Yesterday was a busy day for me! I worked on 3 heads, of which I completed 2 and the third is about halfway done.
The top two are done, the bottom one is not but it's too humid this morning to face up and my back up place (old college) isn't open 'til noon today. That's where I was yesterday too, but after working from 9am to 3pm I realized I was very very hungry, so I had to stop for the day.
This one is a Garden of Dolls Narah in light tan/coffee skin. It was interesting working on a sculpt with such prominent lips. I was asked to make her eyes look bigger and to give her freckles, the rest was up to me. She's a fawn and I'll be working on her body soon as well, just need to blush the hooves! I also realized when I was editing the pictures that she's derp eyed... oops!
Then here we have another Resinsoul Mei, but this time in fleshtone and with a natural face up. Now I just need to restring her body as she's very floppy. It's kind of funny how both completed face ups from yesterday ended up with freckles.
Hopefully soon I'll be able to finish my own Fairyland LTF Juri 2013 faceplate (which I started yesterday). She's going to be a little half dragon girl and will be super cute (I hope) once done.
That's all for now!
Despite having to run around like a loon yesterday, I did manage to get two face ups done. One was on a Luts TDF Gelda Elf and the other on another Resinsoul Mei. Both turned out lovely in my opinion.
Anyway, onto some pictures!
First up we have the Luts Tiny Delf Gelda Elf in real skin brown. She is actually a centaur, so I'm going to have to blush her horse butt a bit to add white freckles to it. She also needs a better tail made out of mohair to match her synthetic mohair wig.
A friend of mine commissioned me to re-paint her Resinsoul Mei after falling in love with the one I did for Anime Detour. She asked me to paint her along the same vein with applied pearls. I switched it up a bit as I do not copy face ups, not even my own, for different customers. Either way, I'm super pleased with how she turned out.
She's an old gal and has yellowed considerably. The Mei is also super floppy, so it was pretty amazing that I was able to get her to stand quite solid. That just shows how happy she is with her new look.
I'll be going to Anime Detour in about two weeks and The Junky Spot donated a Resinsoul Mei in white skin to a raffle. A friend of mine donated a wig and shoes for her and we're hoping a friend of hers will donate an outfit. I donated a pair of eyes and a face up to the cause.
I just got around to painting her yesterday because the weather was gorgeous. Today it's much colder so I might not be able to face up until the afternoon.
But anyway, onto the pictures of the face up!
I hope whoever gets to take this cutie home will love her to bits. I replaced her stringing because she was a limp noodle. I may suede her still because she's very snappy and kicky, but all Resinsoul dolls are honestly.
Just look at that cute face with her wig! She's going to be a great doll for someone very lucky. If any of you are in the MN area I hope to see you at Anime Detour! That'll be my first convention I've ever gone to, so I hope I'll have fun.
