New Work 07-30-16

I'm definitely on a roll here! I managed to finish up another commission today, and get it and the previous one sent out on their way home.

Today I worked on a Doll Love YouYou, and I gotta say she turned out pretty cute! She's also rather sparkly upon the client's request. Poor thing came to me with a chipped face up.

Without further ado, onto some pictures!

I've definitely gotten better since the last Doll Love YouYou I worked on. That one was so long ago, I've already removed the examples from my website! Either way, I can't wait to see how the owner is going to make this girl look once put back together again!

The other day I finished up the Angell-Studio Cinderella in butter skin. She's quite a lovely gal! Pity she's OT on DoA for being accused of being a copy (NOT a recast) but there's no clear indication of which sculpt she's a copy of.

Anyway, the client asked for a pretty basic face up with rounded eyeliner rather than pointy wings as I usually do.

Now for some pictures!

I wasn't sent eyes with her so I just stuck some random acrylics in her I had laying around so she'd look a little less creepy due to being eyeless! The client sent me with some eyelashes to use on her, which are quite lovely!

I recently ordered more eyelashes off of eBay, but it'll be a while before they arrive. They are human falsies, so let's hope they are small enough to use on dolls! So far I've had good luck with them.

Oh! Head on over to the Owner Pictures gallery, I was sent some new stuff recently that I'd love for you guys to see!

Today I doubt I'll be able to work on any dolls as I work a long shift at one of my jobs, even if I'm itching to paint dolls! I mean I could work on something now as the sun isn't up yet, but I'd rather save my energy for an 8.5 hour shift at work.

New work 7-26-16 + FYI

I'm on a roll! I finished up a two part commission this morning (just needed gloss and eyelashes), I already had the first face up done on the 23rd, so I just needed to do the second face up which I did yesterday.

This time I worked on a Fairyland RealFee Mari in natural skin, who is such a cute sculpt! I'm so glad I've gotten to work on one, definitely a cutie. The client asked for scales on her and lots of blue!

Without further ado, onto some pictures!

I always love doing lips with some fantasy aspects on them, like the blue corners and edges. It just adds a little something!

Also I did my first serious neck mod for one of the commissions I'm working on. It's an Iplehouse SID torso that needed the neck slimmed by over a centimeter to fit a Dollclans Vezeto head. The head will be colormatched!

I need to give him one more good sanding session to buff out the marks, but otherwise the fit is good now! He has excellent mobility.

Now for the FYi:

I am expecting 2 more packages for face up work, the majority is here. I'm closing up commissions again for the time being until I make a serious dent into everything I got to do! I'll post a blog post once I'm ready to take on more commissions again.

My hours are increasing at my job so I'm going to have to get creative with my time management. I'm slowly getting used to face upping in the afternoon (my best working time is morning), which is great as I usually work mornings.

I'm back in the groove for commission work again! This past week I whipped up a face up on a Fairyland RealFee Haru in natural skin. The client asked me to put a Celtic knot on her forehead, which was a fun challenge for me!

Without further ado, some pictures!

She has a really cute little bird like nose, it's quite adorable! It took me like 2-3 tries to get the Celtic knot good, because I wasn't entirely sure how to do it. Finally I just painted it on with pastels and then went over it with watercolor paint just to erase the pastels again.

The next one up for this client is a RealFee Mari, who's going to have scales! I love doing scales, it's always so much fun!

After these last heads arrive, I'm going to close up for the time being just to get through them all. I do keep my waitlist open though!

Bunch of New Work - 7/18/16

I just had a super busy weekend working on personal projects as I was waiting on some more commissions to come in.

On Friday I finally got around to blushing my Dollzone Sawarieda body (it has a DZ Minas head). I'm sadly not done yet, but I'm happy with where I did stop. Then on Sunday I worked on my Impldoll Azalea elf that just arrived on Saturday. I did a quick face up on her in the morning as there was a doll meet the same day.

I don't have the best pictures of the Sawarieda body blushing, but I have some I'd like to show!

Mainly what is left to do is add scales to all her tail petals. It's going to take forever but it'll be totally worth it!

Now for the Impldoll Azalea elf in real skin. She represents one of my oldest characters who I've had running around in my head and writing since I was 14 years old. Without further ado, have some pictures!

I had a lot of fun with her scars, I always forget how much I enjoy doing them on dolls. She initially fought me on the placement of them, but once I got them "right" everything else was smooth sailing.

Blue hair makes everything better

I'm very happy that I was able to paint her so quickly and still have it look nice.

Goal Achieved! 250 Completed Face Ups!

I did it guys, I reached my goal of 250 completed face ups! And it was on one of my own dolls, my Dollzone Chen in normal yellow skin. I'm so thrilled that I reached this milestone as I've been a face up artist for about 4.5 years at this point. I've grown so much in this craft, it's amazing to look back.

Anyway, let's get to the pictures!

I like his eyebrows much better again this time around than last. Last time they were so... expressionless? I'm also much more pleased with his blushing. He looks like he's rolling his eyes, that was not intentional.

It's kind of funny how his color seems to be different in each photo, but I promise it's the same head each time! He's on his 4th face up, and it's my favorite so far!

Since I reached a milestone, it's time to post my collage again!

It's been a while since I've posted my face up collage. It's gotten quite massive at this point! My poor photoshop file takes forever to open! One day I swear I should print it as a blanket or something, not like that'd be creepy or anything to have a blanket of a bunch of heads!

Happy 4th to USA Peeps + New Work!

I hope everyone in the USA is having a nice 4th of July here. My day was fabulous! I'm finally back in my own home after living with my mom for two weeks post her surgery. She's recovering well, though she's still got a ways to go before she's back at 100%. My mom is a trooper though!

Anyway, since I'm back home, I've been able to work on commissions again. You guys have no idea how much I missed working on dolls! This also means I'm open for commissions again.

I managed to finish today a Resinsoul Mei on the Rong body in fleshtone skin. She's a spunky fairy with fiery red hair. The client had her directly sent to me from the company, and is her first doll on top of it!

Without further ado, onto some pictures!

First up are the face detail shots. I'm really liking the fat little eyebrows on her, which are very different from the usual style I do. Then again, I do enjoy pushing myself outside of my comfort zone! Also this is the 5th Mei I've worked on so far. It is such a versatile sculpt!

She also got a body blush with freckles and a manicure as well. I haven't done a fully body blush in a natural manner in quite a while, so it was refreshing to do so once again.

I really like the sculpting on the Rong hands, they are so lovely. The body is definitely better (in my eyes) than the single jointed one Mei usually comes on. I may suede it a little, just to help out with posing a bit.

Now I'm going to wind down for the evening, enjoy some chocolate, and try not to get spooked by the first fireworks. Until next time!
