As I mentioned in my last post, I got married this last weekend. It was a beautiful (and super short) ceremony. I'm the one in the dress and my wife is the one in the knickers and tailcoat. The weather was wonderful, even if I ended up with a migraine just about every day of the weekend.
Anyway, now that the wedding is over and family members are back home, it was time to get back to work! What I worked on was a Bobobie/Resinsoul Ya dyed to be a lovely dark tan color.
For this face up I was asked to basically combine two of my previous face ups. Dark eyebrows, black and white eyelashes, and white freckles along the eyes with natural lips.
That is all for now! I'm still waiting on a few more commissions to trickle in, but at least my new MSC is set to arrive today.
Yesterday was a busy day for me! I worked on 3 heads, of which I completed 2 and the third is about halfway done.
The top two are done, the bottom one is not but it's too humid this morning to face up and my back up place (old college) isn't open 'til noon today. That's where I was yesterday too, but after working from 9am to 3pm I realized I was very very hungry, so I had to stop for the day.
This one is a Garden of Dolls Narah in light tan/coffee skin. It was interesting working on a sculpt with such prominent lips. I was asked to make her eyes look bigger and to give her freckles, the rest was up to me. She's a fawn and I'll be working on her body soon as well, just need to blush the hooves! I also realized when I was editing the pictures that she's derp eyed... oops!
Then here we have another Resinsoul Mei, but this time in fleshtone and with a natural face up. Now I just need to restring her body as she's very floppy. It's kind of funny how both completed face ups from yesterday ended up with freckles.
Hopefully soon I'll be able to finish my own Fairyland LTF Juri 2013 faceplate (which I started yesterday). She's going to be a little half dragon girl and will be super cute (I hope) once done.
That's all for now!
I did it, guys! I got to 200 face ups after 4 years since my first one. I've been in the face up business for 3.5 years, but this is a monumental number for me.
My first face up was started in July of 2011, and finally completed in August (a good friend of mine was showing me how to face up) of the same year. So yeah, it literally took me 4 years to get to 200.
Anyway, enough jabbering and onto some pictures!
This is my third face up on my Resinsoul Ai head. The first face up I gave her was also my first face up in general. The second one was my 100th face up, and now this one is my 200th. Now I just need to get another 99 face ups done so I can redo her as my 300th!
It's such fun seeing how much I've improved over the years. I also want to post my latest collage update now that I have 200 face ups on it. It's been a while since I posted it last!
Thank you for going on this great journey with me everyone. And now back to commissions! Until next time!
I'll be going to Anime Detour in about two weeks and The Junky Spot donated a Resinsoul Mei in white skin to a raffle. A friend of mine donated a wig and shoes for her and we're hoping a friend of hers will donate an outfit. I donated a pair of eyes and a face up to the cause.
I just got around to painting her yesterday because the weather was gorgeous. Today it's much colder so I might not be able to face up until the afternoon.
But anyway, onto the pictures of the face up!
I hope whoever gets to take this cutie home will love her to bits. I replaced her stringing because she was a limp noodle. I may suede her still because she's very snappy and kicky, but all Resinsoul dolls are honestly.
Just look at that cute face with her wig! She's going to be a great doll for someone very lucky. If any of you are in the MN area I hope to see you at Anime Detour! That'll be my first convention I've ever gone to, so I hope I'll have fun.
As the title says, I'm on a roll! I did 3 face ups within a week. I am proud of myself. Today's face up is on a Bobobie/Resinsoul Lan. I was sent two different colored wigs with her so I tried to match her eyebrows to both.
I think I did a pretty good job of it. I also had to trim her eyelashes because her eyes are so tiny and the SD eyelashes were way too long.
You know what the best part is about being a face up artist? Handling so many different dolls! What I mean with that is that it's really fun to get to see so many different sculpts from various companies. I've worked on some companies I didn't even know existed, so I'm getting educated along the way.
Also, I'm not out of commissions to do, so if you or a friend need a face up, don't hesitate to send me a contact form! I'm always open for more commissions.
When I just got into doing face ups, a friend of mine got her first doll, a Resinsoul Ju in white. After a while she asked me to do a face up on her, so I did, making her my first commission.
It's amazing how different a face up can make a doll. I've mentioned it before, but the default BBB/RS face ups are so lifeless.
It's kind of funny how this doll is two landmarks for me. She's my first commission, and she ended up being my 50th face up as well. I've improved quite a bit since then, and I'll get better still.
Oh, and my plate is pretty empty at the moment, so if you have someone that needs a new face or a body blush, don't hesitate to message me!
A little view of the face up work I did today. The first is a patch job, the middle is my 50th face up, and the last is a Monster High doll I got for christmas that I was finally able to paint.
