Yesterday morning I redid my Dollzone Stramonium's face up, which was really interesting to see for me because the first face up I did on her in December of 2013 was the first one I did using a brush for detailing rather than pencils. I've improved on that technique so much at this point.
Anyway, onto some pictures!
Here are my girl's detail shots. Her old face up was simply too plain for my infamous pirate queen. I realized she likes to wear eyeshadow and winged eyeliner, but she's not one for lipstick. No time to reapply lipstick all day when running a ship, you know?
Here's a comparison of all the face ups she's had. I got her second hand and that was the face up on the left she came with. It didn't suit my character at all. Then the middle is the one I gave her shortly after receiving her. Now the right is her current face up.
I really love how her look has evolved, it's not that different from the second to the third, but it's still different enough for me.
One last picture for the road so you guys can get an idea for how cool she really is. And yes, her eye really does glow red. It's from Ringdoll as is her cybernetic arm.
I did another face up today, this one for my SO on her Soom MD Wolf Knight Romantic (human) head in normal skin. His wig just arrived yesterday that I bought him for his character and my SO finally decided to have me redo him when the grey Soom default face up just didn't work with it.
I'm finally getting the hang of mixing blonde colors for eyelashes and eyebrow hairs, I've always had difficulties with that when I switching from using pencils to paint. I'm quite pleased with the end result of him.
Here's his before and after picture as well. The default Soom face up was nicely detailed, but waaay too bland on colors. The grey lips would have been fine on a white skin head, but not on a normal skin one.
Bonus picture of his (unstyled) wig. It's going to need some brushing and careful styling to lay properly, but at least it fits. A friend of ours has him too, and she's been having an awful time finding him a wig that fits and she likes.
My SO's boy is finally going to get a body in about 2 months (it's on layaway and still being made). I can't wait to see him put together!
I finally got around to redoing my Fairyland LTF Dark Elf Soo's face up in tan now that I'm taking a break to work on personal projects. Her old face up has bothered me just about since I put it on her, but I kept getting so many commissions that I didn't have time to redo hers.
I still have a few more to reface up, but they will be dispersed throughout the week. If I feel up to it I might even do one tomorrow! Anyway, onto some pictures!
I really love how her eyes came out. It took me roughly 20 minutes and about 5 tries to get the eyelashes to a point I liked them and NOT go too far on them. I kept overworking them badly... Either way I kept working on them and now she's quite dramatic, perfect for a pirate princess since her mother, my DZ Stramonium, is the pirate queen.
Here's also a before and after picture of her two face ups. When I got her originally last summer she had a fairyland default face up, but I wiped it before I even took pictures of it. They had put so much silver shimmer on it that she looked like she was sweating. Just didn't work on the tan skin. I keep forgetting to put shimmer on Bonnie, maybe later I'll give her a layer of gold shimmer just to make her shine.
Here's a picture of her all put together! She's such a cutie. Now I want to redo my DZ Stramonium to match.
Since I have no new work to show this week I decided to post my own collection, though 7 in the set up belong to my SO.
And here's everyone! Not the greatest of pictures, but it'll do. This is the set up they are always in, even with my two cats prowling about. My SO is expecting another SD boy and an SD body for a floating head.

I managed to finish the last of the commissions I had and shipped everything out today. I feel accomplished!
As for the FYI, I'm closing commissions until March. I'm going to take a break and work on some personal projects since my poor dolls have been neglected with old face ups that I could do so much better now!
Anyway, onto the work from this week!
First up is a Fairyland LTF Rolly VE faceplate from a friend of mine. She wanted me to paint her as a little goth girl, which I was happy to do. I think it turned out very nice.
And then here we have the legs of my SO's Soom Ai girl. She's a red dear so red hooves it is. I was surprised at how few layers that took to build up. I only used about two layers of color to build up the red and another two for the hooves.
Yesterday was a busy day for my face up wise, and it was great! I finished 2 heads, a pair of hands, and a bust piece.
Here's all the work I completed. From left to right we have a Dollshe Love bust piece and hands, a Soom SO Shale Death Knight head, and a Soom MD Shale human head. I have now done 10 face ups on various Soom Shale heads. Kind of crazy, isn't it?
But anyway, onto the detail shots of everything!
First up is the Soom MD Shale human head. I just stuck random eyes in him so he wouldn't look creepy. I used a different lash style to try and imitate Soom face ups. I still need to check if the customer wants attached eyelashes or not.
Second is the other Soom Shale head, but this one is from the Death Knight release and in their new cream white, which is far more a stark white than a cream one like it used to be. I was asked to put a tribal mark on his face since he's a demon, and this is what I came up with. The owner loves the face up, so that's good!
And last, but certainly not least, are the parts of the Dollshe Love body. I only blushed the hands and the one torso even though she came with 3 busts. The customer only wanted the bust with the most cleavage painted and put on the body, so I did. I love her hands, they are so pretty and delicate!
I'm posting the detail shots a couple days late, but these are the good shots of the last two face ups I did of January 2015. Things have been rather hectic and stressful at work so I'm often very tired by the time I come home.
Either way, on to the detail shots!
Here we have the LumeDoll Blaze in tan. Honestly the tan looks more like a normal skin but that's okay. He is very tiny.
And up second we have the Fairyland Chicline Rou in normal skin. He was described to me as bit of a Diva. Putting snakebites on something this tiny was an entertaining challenge. He barely even fought me on his eyelashes, which I always appreciate. He's also very tiny.
Quarter for scale!
