Well I haven't gotten as much done as usual, but I was able to squeeze in one of my own dolls, my Dollzone Daomiao-2, to teach a friend of mine how to face up. They did their first face up ever with just a little guidance from me (I only helped here and there, most they did by themselves!), and I'm really proud of them for taking the plunge! Sadly I don't have pictures of their face up, but I can show mine at least.
Pictures and more under the cut!

I finally got to do a new face up after all our stuff arrived on Thursday! We've been unpacking like crazy and got two more bookshelves to solve our book hoarding problem, heh. First thing we unpacked once our stuff was all in the apartment? Dolls of course! Shows where our priorities lie... There is a good reason behind it though! The dolls were possibly the most fragile thing on the shipment, but none of them suffered any sort of damage. So we're happy with that! Anyway, I was able to work on my wife's Volks YoSD Chinatsu 2nd finally after a friend gifted her to her months ago. My wife decided for her to be a fire elemental, and then we realized that she's Morgan, Sam's (my Dollzone Minas/Sawarieda hybrid) daughter, so she finally got a name other than Troll. Without further ado, onto some pictures! I've never done a face up like this before, so it took about an hour, if not longer, for the first layer alone! She's got a bright red wig with pink undertones, so that's the eyebrow and eyelash color she got. I had a lot of fun with this face up, even if it was challenging! Now I want to hunt down a gold/yellow Peapod Doll mermaid tail for her. Wish me luck!
I should be able to open commissions soon again! That's all from me for now! Until next time! I finally got around to documenting my latest face up. It's on my own Fairyland LTF DES in tan. She's super cute and the FL tan is actually really nice, I like it a lot. It's so funny to compare her to my fiancee's LTF DES in normal skin. Here is Bonnie, she's Jazz's, my DZ Stramonium, daughter. I'm actually in the middle of modding a white LTF hand to look like bone, so keep your eyes peeled for that too!
Now I just need to buckle down and finish up the rest of my commissions. It's been really hectic with work and trying to find a new job that is less draining. Enough whining now, and back to work with me! ![]() Yesterday I decided to finally blush Winter's hooves. It was a bit of a challenge because they are so stained. When I bought them second hand I didn't know they would be so stained because they were covered in about two layers of acrylic paint. I first scrubbed off the first layer, and then I soaked the hooves in rubbing alcohol for 24 hours. That got the rest of the paint off, but they were still rather stained because of how porous the resin is due to the hand cast nature of them. Either way, I decided to challenge myself with the fantasy blush of them, at least a little bit. I originally wanted the hooves darker than the fur, but I got a bit impatient so I simply painted cracks on them. I experimented with my pastels a bit and managed to even splatter them like acrylic paint. Now once I learn how to paint on eyelashes and eyebrow hairs without the watercolor pencils I feel like I'll level up! And here she is before and after. It's amazing what a difference a face up and wig makes. That is literally the same doll, there you can also see her original hoof blush. It looked nice from a distance, but not so much up close.
Technically it is still fall here, but the head I got as a replacement for Autumn's decided not to be Autumn anymore, but Winter instead! The head is a Soom MD Beyla. I've been hydriding dolls with Soom parts for a while now, but this is my first Soom head. I was pretty much just playing trying to see what I can do face up wise. I really like how she turned out. She's getting a cute curly light blonde mohair wig. Not like the mohair fur wigs, but more like a natural looking one. She is on a Fairyland LTF body with Daisy Dayes hooves. The hooves are pretty stained, so it's going to take a lot of creativity to make them look awesome again. I'm up for the challenge though! That's all for now.
Tuesday was super busy for me on the doll front, I finished the two face ups and wings from the previous week, did two more face ups, and 3 hands. I still need to document all of them properly but I wanted to share what I all did. As you can see, I had a very full plate to work on. I'm going to hopefully document everything today before work and get all of them listed on the site.
The heads from left to right are an Unoa L-Bi, Impldoll Greta, Doll Love M K, Doll Love YouYou. The hands belong to the Impldoll Greta, and the wings are hand cast and painted by me. I'm currently working on two heads and a pair of my wings that I recently sold. The heads are both YoSD heads from Doll Love, one is an M K and the other is a YouYou. Let's see the WIP shot of them! The YouYou will still be getting freckles all over the face, the M K head is almost done at this point, just need to add more details to her. And the wings sill need to be darkened up with a few more layers of purple.
Now that I'm down to just one commission head with me that I need to finish, I'm almost ready to reopen commissions again! All I really have left is a Rosenlied Basic Aura to do. Now onto the last two commissions I completed in the past week! Here we have a Hujoo Sara once again. I finally got to use some of my fantasy colored eyelashes on this girl, and they look super pretty. The lower eyelashes turned out a little intense, but the owner wants to give the face up a chance before I redo it. I offered since they are really strong, but I'm fine with not working on the head again immediately. And this one is a Fantasy Doll Pamela that I modded into a boy body. I did the face up and body work on him. He's meant to be a little mushroom boy and is his owner's first doll. He'll be getting shipped home to Germany around next week. I can't wait to see him with his proper (blue) eyes and a wig!
There we go, back in the groove! This time we have a Bobobie Isabella in Fleshtone. I love doing freckles, so much. And Bobobie's look a lot better with custom face ups than their defaults. They look so lifeless in the grey.
I'm so excited! The person who commissioned the Impldoll Kare stuck her under the shower for a fun little shoot, and the face up held up! That is so amazing to know. He takes really fun pictures of his dolls. I love that shot. I got permission from him to repost it on my website here and I really wanted to share it.
His pictures can be found on his DeviantArt. I did it! The weather was finally warm enough that I could finish this face up. I'm really proud of the fact that the tree was entirely painted with pastels. I'm terrible with acrylics and my trembly hands like to mess up, so I work with mediums I can easily fix mistakes with. Click on the images for a larger view. This head is an old Angel of Dream AiAi, who I hear was a limited elf eared head. I'm not sure on it though, so don't quote me on it please. I was given the head by a friend because she didn't want her. She got the doll for the body for another floating head she has. I didn't know what to do with her so I decided to paint her for BJDCollectasy's Autumn/Fall Face Up Project.
![]() I was given this AoD AiAi head to do with as I please and to keep, so I've decided I'm going to give it a fall inspired face up for BJDCollectasy's Autumn Face Up Project. I've participated in both the spring and summer ones, so I'm looking forward to this one too! I already have a general idea as to what to do, but I won't know for sure until I actually start painting it. The head is damaged on the inside of the headcap, so I tried to install magnets. It worked, mostly, I still need to tape the back to keep it from popping up (The magnets are crooked), but oh well. I might end up selling this head after I'm done painting it. It would be much, at most like $50. I have enough floaters as is... ![]() I've also had the brilliant idea of making a full doll myself of my species called Sielien. They average at 8 feet, though usually they're a little taller. I want to make them at 1/4 scale, which would still make them about 2 feet (61cm) tall, so if you want them to be 1/4, they can be, but if you want them to be 1/3, they can be that too. It would be a massive undertaking to make them, but I'm oddly excited by the idea. I've hardly seen four armed dolls from companies other than maybe 2 or 3. I've had this species running around in my head since I was about 13 years old, so I am very fond of them. I'd try to make them a jointed tail, but no promises there. A little about Sieliens. They are community creatures and move with elegance and grace. They never sit still, ever, not even in their sleep. If you see a Sielien perfectly still, you can safely assume they are dead. It's like their entire species is affected by ADHD. Either way, they hardly communicate through speech even if perfectly capable of doing so. They "talk" through body language and use their hands to sign, which is why no one can fully learn their language, other species, like humans, simply don't have enough arms. They are omnivores and excellent hunters. They are also matriarchal, but men aren't subjugated, they simply can't be the head of the tribe on their own. I could write forever about them, but I'll end it here with a general overview of them. Would anyone be interested in one as a doll? I will definitely make one for myself. Eventually. I have a lot of sculpting ahead of me. The weather was nice this morning so I was able to work from home. This is a Soom MD Teenie Gem Eliv. My friend who commissioned me wanted lots of pink, so lots of pink she got.
I blushed my reject pair today. I'm quite happy with the outcome! I wanted them to match my LTF elf chiwoo named Diuris for the orchid on her face. I pretty much used the same colors as for her flower for her wings. Here you can see a side view to show Diruis's face. She's a little demon flower fairy, or something. Mainly she likes being pretty.
There we go! I cleaned up all three pairs now that I've cast. One I'm never selling/giving away because it was the first one and has stunted talons. The other two I might be willing to part with, but not yet. I first want to paint them all pretty! Here you can see that I stuck them on three different sized dolls for size comparisons. I originally intended them for YoSDs, but they work great on MSD too. A little small on the SD though. I should be able to paint them on Thursday if the weather permits. I know it won't tomorrow, too humid and gross, unless I go to college and do it there. Hmm...
