I'm so excited! The person who commissioned the Impldoll Kare stuck her under the shower for a fun little shoot, and the face up held up! That is so amazing to know. He takes really fun pictures of his dolls.
I love that shot. I got permission from him to repost it on my website here and I really wanted to share it.
His pictures can be found on his DeviantArt.
There we go, got another commission done so until the next come in my plate is empty. Good thing too. I'm in full finals in my senior year so I won't have much time for face ups. Art school kills (free time). Good thing I love art!
As the title says, I took some good shots of my last commission. She is an Impldoll Kare in dark tan and a voodoo queen. She was a lot of fun to work on.
I was asked to make the skull look old, so I mixed various grays and browns into the white to create a gritty feel to her. I was sent with a description for what he wanted her to look like, which was immensely helpful. I am quite pleased with the outcome, as is the commissioner. She's going home today after only arriving on Wednesday.
Now for the News bit.
I've been trying to crank out the commissions a bit faster because I have so many coming in, and I'm leaving for Europe in a few weeks. Which means that I can't take on any commissions that are mailed after December 14th to my place, because I leave on the 22nd of December until January 6th. And after that I'm going to have surgery so my shop will be closed for a month to a month and a half, because I won't be able to drive on heavy pain killers and need to recover. Thanks for understanding.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have something to be thankful for.
I'm thankful for my family and friends, my loving partner, those that I love and love me in return, my two cats, and I am thankful for having such wonderful people commissioning me.
I currently have a lot of commissions coming my way. Two arrived yesterday (one was a surprise from a friend who doesn't even know yet what she wants), and I managed to paint one this morning.
This is the one I worked on, an Impldoll Kare in dark tan. She's a voodoo queen. I haven't taken proper detail shots yet because I'm awaiting approval.
Either way, I'm about to head off to spend thanksgiving with my family in the states and my partner.
I hope everyone else has a wonderful day too, whether or not you celebrate Thanksgiving.
Okay, yesterday was insane. I was going to ship my last commission out yesterday, but due to a trip to the ER with my partner, that didn't happen so I'm shipping it today.
One of the commissions I'm waiting on is already in my city, but it's not supposed to be delivered until Monday. Kinda weird if you ask me, but it's the Post Office, not much I can do about them.
Oh, and currently it's up in the air whether I'm leaving on the 22nd for Europe or not. I'd love to know, but it's not in my hands right now.
Finished up the second part of the DC Bella commission. I was also sent a pair of cat ears to clean and blush.
I was asked to match them to a wig and make the ear tips golden. I have no idea what company they are from, so currently I'm counting them as unknown cat ears. I've packed up everything securely and am just waiting to be paid before sending everything back to the commissioner.
Just finished up a new face up. She is a Doll Chateau Bella in normal skin yellow. It's the first Doll Chateau doll I've seen in person and I have to say, she's beautiful even blank. Nice smooth resin and a good weight to her head at the very least.
Before I send her home I need to blush a pair of fox ears that were sent with her. I started on them, but I'm not done yet. I'm hoping to get them finished tomorrow so I can mail her back home on Saturday.
I tried my hand at doing an elf ear mod on my DragonDoll Caesar head. I'm rather pleased with the results.
His ears are technically not done yet, I still need to add some sculpted feathers along the edges.
I'm thinking of offering elf ear mods as a services as well since I have a ton of apoxie sculpt that I'd love to use.
In other news, the DC Bella has arrived so I'll be starting work on her either tomorrow or Thursday. I'm looking forward to it! She's such a beautiful sculpt.
I have a commission arriving on Tuesday, a Doll Chateau Bella and a pair of animal ears. I can't wait to work on her and the ears.
I feel like I should finally work on that DragonDoll Caesar head I have laying around I got as a birthday gift from Emory of The Junky Spot. He needs his ears modded and then some scars and a face up. He doesn't have a body or even a wig, but at least he has eyes that are his own.
This is the head, and his name is Skuld. He actually looks much better in person than in the promo pictures. DragonDoll made him look terrible, really. He's going to be a dragon much like my other DragonDoll Mort (he's a Cheng), but instead of blue he's going to be red.
I have a bit of news everyone. I'll be taking on commissions until the first week of December and then I'll close shop until the beginning of the second week of January 2013. I'll be graduating on December 14th and on the 22nd I'm leaving for Austria for 2 weeks to spend the holidays with my family.
Also I'll be raising my prices in about mid January 2013. I feel after a year of doing face ups for commission I'm good enough to raise my prices. It won't be much, just $5 on each basic service. The additional fantasy services will still depend on complexity and size.
So if you want to commission me, November is the time to do it.
These are all of the dolls I have in my household between my partner and me. I figured I'd share something doll related since I'm waiting on commissions to come in. Most of the dolls are mine, 4 are my partners. The floating heads are mine too.
Out of the 16 (3 of them are floating heads) dolls in the picture, I've face up-ed 10 and body blushed 3. My first doll was face up-ed by a very good friend of mine who then taught me how to face up with my second doll. Three dolls have default face ups, one is blank (a head), and one of them was face up-ed by my partner.
If I tagged every doll in this post, I'd be sitting here a long time so I'm only tagging them as BJDs. If anyone is curious who is what, leave me a comment and I will
No more special! Thanks to those that commissioned me in this month while the special was going on. You guys are all awesome, even those of you that don't commission me. I love you all.
I'm currently waiting on a DC Bella head to be sent my way, so until then I only haver personal projects to work on in the doll part of my life. I'm so glad I can go to school for face up-ing because it's cold outside now, too cold to spray my MSC. My college has two spray booths in which I can safely seal.
