Since I was out of commissions this past week, I decided to blush the torso of my LoongSoul 69cm small bust body in normal pink skin. I have one more commission on me that I just recently received, so once it stops snowing I'll be working on that head too. It's a Luts SDF 2016 Summer Event head that I recently sold to a friend.
Anyway, onto some pictures! I'll put them under the cat as they are NSFW in nature due to the nudity!

I'm on a roll! I repainted Mort, my Dragondoll Cheng in white skin, finally!! Only took me, what, 5 and a half years? I somehow stripped the years off of him though as he's usually meant to be an older character. Now he kind of looks like a J-pop star or something. I blame the eyelashes. I'm leaving the face up in place to see if it grows on me more. Without further ado, onto some pictures! Seems like my last few face ups have all been a very blue theme, though this guy is meant to have light blue skin but is white so I blushed him accordingly. He's yellowed a lot over the last 6 years, he used to be a lot brighter in color! No big deal though, he's from 2009 and I've owned him since 2011 (I'm his first owner, poor guy sat in a warehouse for 2 years!). He was a gift from my mom for Christmas, but I got him during the Junkyspot black Friday sale in 2011. Here are all the face ups he's had to date. The top left corner was his company default and made him look like a vulcan drag queen. Nothing against Vulcans, drag queens, or a combo, but he simply isn't one. The top right face up was my 8th face up ever, but I didn't have his wig yet so I couldn't properly color match. Then the bottom left was my 20th face up that I kept on him for over 5 years because it was just that perfect. It became outdated though... now the bottom right face up is his current look where I tried to give him eyelashes again for my 308th face up. We'll see how long I keep this face up on him. Hopefully not another 5.5 years! At least now I know that my face ups can stand the test of time, haha! I'll end the post here with a dashing picture of him put together. Until next time!
Now that everything is put away and we're all settled in Vienna, I'm finally open for commissions again! My prices are a little higher than they used to be, but I feel I've improved enough since the last price raise almost a year ago to warrant it. I switched my prices into Euro from US Dollars. Now for the new work! I finally repainted Susi, my April Story Betty in normal skin, as I never liked her old face up. Plus the booger chipped the blushing along her nose! Without further ado, onto some pictures! I decided to give her piercings this time around as she's a punk-type character. I'm much much happier with the eyelashes this time around, and the scar too! Here's a quick before and after comparison of the face ups. Both are by me, but the second is much better in my opinion. There isn't even that much time between the two face ups. I guess I was more patient with the second one! I'll end this post with the picture of her put together above.
Maybe for my next face up I'll finally repaint Mort, my Dragondoll Cheng! He's had the same face up for a good 5 years now, if not longer! Until next time! I finally documented the Luts Senior Delf Girl Type 1 body in light tan yesterday and got the images approved by the client. Now just to pack her up, the SDF Summer 2016 event head and get some shipping estimates! Anyway, onto some pictures! I'm quite proud of the blushing, and it really is a beautiful body and poses oh so nicely. She has subtle freckling all along her chest and back, and some along her upper arms. I tried to keep them in places where the joints wouldn't rub in the sockets. Now to just get her packed up and sent home! I'm hoping today to work on more face ups again as yesterday I hit a wall after work due to a bad migraine. I'm feeling much better today and as long as the weather holds I should be fine! This morning I also FINALLY dusted the doll dresser, it was getting pretty grey from dark brown/nearly black. Whoops... It just took a little bit because there's 27 dolls between my wife and I. The cats were most excited by the dresser being doll-less and I had to shoo them away the boogers. This is all of them currently. I'm slowly saving up towards one more, but I fear I have to grab into my doll fund to get my car fixed. Something got mucked up when I got new tires and the alignment fixed... Now my car won't start properly. Fortunately we do have enough saved up to maintain my car. We can't afford for me not to be mobile on my own. Sorry for the rambling!
Anyway, that's all from me for now, until next time! Sorry guys, I haven't been able to work on commissions for the past week or so because my mother had surgery and I've been staying with her to help her and my stepdad out during her recovery. I don't know yet when I'll be able to get home again to finally work on commissions. I haven't even had the chance to work on my own dolls! Anyway, I am going to try to get some work done, I don't know yet when I'll be able to resume my own life again as the recovery is going slow for my mom. I've been slowly going insane not being able to be creative and work on dolls. Oh! I did raise my prices a little for body blushes as they are time consuming and take up a lot more materials than just a face up, so I increased the price by $5 on those services. In happier news, I'm almost at my goal for this year already, which was to get to 250 completed face ups! I'm right now at 247, and I have heads to paint at home, but no opportunity to work on them yet... I will end this post with a picture of my doll Melody. The sunrise made her look like she was on fire.
Until next time, and thanks for understanding! My wife and I arrived safe and sound in Vienna two days ago after a long, but fortunately uneventful trip. Yesterday we bought a 9 foot (3 meter) tree with my dad and decorated it too. It's a beauty! Here's the tree (and my wife) in all its glory! It's covered in ornaments and chocolate. Yum! We're celebrating christmas tomorrow, which means I have to wrap gifts today.
Today we'll be going to a Christmas Market and having a grand old time. Either way, while I'm galavanting in Vienna, Austria I obviously can't work on commissions. I didn't even bring any dolls with me as I didn't want to deal with lugging one around the airports internationally. I'll re-open shop and commissions once I'm back in the US in the first week of January. Happy holidays and a grand new year if I don't post again before then! I don't have any new work to show since the last post yet as I haven't had the chance yet to go to my alternative face up location. We've had a blizzard, I worked on Saturday, been scrambling to get health insurance squared away for next year, and all around it's been very busy here! Either way, I wanted to do a little personal post about my collection. I've been in the hobby since May 2011. Overall I've owned 26 dolls, but currently I own 15, and I have one on layaway. Here's a collage of every doll I've ever owned, not counting event dolls I had no intention of ever keeping. I'm also only going by heads here as some dolls upgraded to different bodies. Greyscale means they've moved on, color means they are still in my collection. Sculpts are as follows:
I'm very happy with my current collection, though my Angell-Studio Dina is going through a design overhaul (slowly). I already got her a new wig and different eyes, I just need to repaint her now without all those scars. I'm still deciding what to make her look like now. It's difficult as she doesn't have a set character. And then here we have the breakdown of my collection by year. Man... my first year I sure was doll crazy! This year I was surprisingly restrained compared to the other 4 years.
I think it's because in part I became less impulsive and I made a conscious decision to manage my money better. I also switched jobs. I work two part time jobs now that I enjoy rather than one full time one that I despise. It's helped my mental state a lot. The first doll I got this year was actually just a new FP that I swapped onto an existing doll's body, and the other was partially a gift from my SO. I only kept 1 doll from 2012, mainly because she was a birthday gift from my SO, but I've been debating getting her a new body. That's all from me for now! Sorry, that was rather long winded. As I mentioned in my last post, I got married this last weekend. It was a beautiful (and super short) ceremony. I'm the one in the dress and my wife is the one in the knickers and tailcoat. The weather was wonderful, even if I ended up with a migraine just about every day of the weekend. Anyway, now that the wedding is over and family members are back home, it was time to get back to work! What I worked on was a Bobobie/Resinsoul Ya dyed to be a lovely dark tan color. For this face up I was asked to basically combine two of my previous face ups. Dark eyebrows, black and white eyelashes, and white freckles along the eyes with natural lips.
That is all for now! I'm still waiting on a few more commissions to trickle in, but at least my new MSC is set to arrive today. That's right, today is my birthday once again. I also officially raised my prices for any new commissions I pick up.
I have all of the heads and bodies now on me that I was waiting on, so this week I'll be a busy bee painting them all! Some are already in process, but most I still need to start on. Last weekend was Anime Detour (my first convention ever) so I wasn't able to work on anything. At least the weather is going to be super nice this week so I can work on things after I get home from work. Just not today, tonight I'll be celebrating my birthday. Thank you to everyone that's commissioned me in the past and currently, you guys really are the best. Here's to another successful rotation around the sun! I just received yesterday the head from the winner of my Tumblr raffle, it is an Impldoll Aldrich just like I used to own. He's a dragon (unlike mine) so he's going to be a lot of fun to work on. I'll get to use my shimmer powders on him. I was also contacted by a friend to work on one of her dolls. She'll drop him off with me on the weekend. Finally I'm starting to get commissions again, which is wonderful because I've been going through doll painting withdrawal. I did repaint my partner's Soom MD Shale again, but I haven't documented it yet. My partner also got her centaur's new body, so I had to shift the doll set up again. Sticking 8 MSDs into one row was a task and a half. See what I mean? The dresser is definitely getting too small at this point. We have another YoSD coming, but I know how to fit her into the set up. Also there's an SD floating head that needs a body, but I think I know how to get him in there too.
Only 2 dolls (MSD) are in a doll stand, everyone else is just standing on their own. Though the SDs are leaning against the wall for support. |
