I've painted this doll four times already, because with each redo I improved and figured out something new skill wise and wanted to update the face up.
The doll I'm talking about is my SO's Soom MD Shale in cream white. He has white blonde hair and the main reason I redid him this time was because I finally figured out how to do really light blonde eyelashes and eyebrows.
Anyway, onto some pictures and then I'll explain the FYI!
Here you can also see how I've progressed at painting him. The second face up I gave him I was learning to use brush rather than watercolor pencils and it wasn't very good... but the third time I had improved already and by the 4th he's looking pretty good!
Now for the FYI!
I'm getting married this weekend to my beautiful and wonderful SO who I've been with for over 4 years. We've been friends for a good 7 years and roommates for 5.5 years. I'm so happy I get to call her my wife this coming Sunday.
What does that mean for you guys?
Not much really, other than that I won't be able to produce a face up easily this week due to being in full on finishing up wedding preparation. There will be at least some pictures I'm sure I'll post once the festivities are over. My dad and uncle are flying in from oversea's to attend. My sister sadly can't make it, but I'll be going with my SO to visit her and my family in Austria for Christmas (which means I'll be closing shop for the month of December).
Anyway, enough blathering on my part! See you next time when I have more to post! Thanks for sticking with me!
Whew! I finally finished up the body work on two of my commissions, one was a Resinsoul Yao body (but just the hooves), and the other was a Soom MD Thera body. The Soom Thera got her torso blushed, a manicure, hoof blushing, a face up, and her horns were painted. I need to redo her horns though as the gloss peeled a little due to handling too early.
Anyway, onto some pictures!
Here are the hooves on the Resinsoul Yao body in the light/coffee tan that Resinsoul/Bobobie offers. I matched them to the colors I used in the face up.
Then here we have all the body work done on the Soom MD Thera in the original cream white. I'll have to repaint the horns because the gloss peeled off a little due to handling them too soon after drying.
Otherwise she's done! Now to work on the rest of my commissions once the weather permits!
I got a good start on the Soom MD Thera and finished up her face up so far. I'm also still working on the fantasy parts blush for the Resinsoul Yao body. I just have a few more layers of color on that one.
Anyway, the Soom Thera I was asked to give her a fantasy face up, and I'll blush her horns, hooves, body, and give her a manicure as well. I did also restring her with new elastic as the old one was worn out.
I'm really happy with the symmetry of the fantasy designs and the blushing of the face. I've gotten much better at blushing white skin dolls.
I finally received my new doll on Friday and I couldn't wait to paint her yesterday so I did. I tried a different sealant, Army Painter Anti-Shine Matte Varnish, rather than MSC as I'm running low on it (I'm down to one can). I would buy more but I'm trying to stow money away for my upcoming wedding next month.
The Army Painter sealant feels a lot softer than MSC and has a little less tooth. It takes a little longer to dry, but has a very satin-like textured finish. I can't decide if I like it or not.
Anyway, onto some detail shots!
I'm still really proud of this face up, the freckles took about 4-5 tries to get right. I'm so thrilled with her still, I just want to take her everywhere!
