Been a while again since I updated here! I have a few things to show that I'll gladly get to that I've worked on these past 2 weeks. I worked on a Kids Sky Tutu, Souldoll Vito Ciro, and Souldoll Vito Han again.
I also received another commission, a full body and face up job on a Doll Chateau Elizabeth in grey skin! Oh, and my mother is visiting me from the USA this week, so I won't be able to work on dolls probably 'til she leaves again. But now, without further ado, onto some pictures under the read more break!

I was a busy bee this past weekend, finishing up 2 more face ups, and a fantasy parts blush on some wings I'd made myself and sold to a client. The face ups are on a Souldoll Vito Sean and my own Dollzone Daomiao-2. Sadly my lightbox decided to croak today and can't be used anymore without short circuiting whatever it is plugged into. It shut down my laptop twice until I realized what was going on... Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the wings I painted as sparkly as I could without using actual glitter on them. First I blushed them purple/violet with pastels, then coated them in 3 layers of Macropearl Shimmer from PearlEx, and finally sealed it with MSC Gloss to keep maximum shine/sparkle. I didn't install the magnets so that the client can choose which polarity to glue them in at. I did include the magnets however! Next up we have a Souldoll Vito Sean in normal skin. He'd had a custom face up from Souldoll, but the client wasn't happy with the facial hair. I offered my services to repaint him as I've successfully done facial hair in the past. The client also wanted the eye make up like in the default face up, and for him to have a light smirk. I'm quite pleased with the outcome though, and I hope the client will like the work in person too! A lot of hours went into that beard. Last, but not least, we have my Dollzone Daomiao-2 in normal pink skin. I'm not entirely satisfied with her eyebrows or eyelashes, but for now this face up is going to stay on her. I do want to get her lighter eyes. These were the only spare ones I had in her size, or close to it at least. I even tried out giving her eyelid crease lines, which I normally never do as I usually don't like the look of them. But I needed to pop her eyes a bit more.
I still have 3 things to paint, but one I'm waiting on until his body arrives to the owner. They are local to me, so we can huddle together to make sure the colors match, and if not, make them match! That's all from me for now, until next time! This weekend has been productive so far for me! I had a friend fly in from out of town on Wednesday and she just left this morning. I mostly ran around with her, but I did get to do two face ups as well as she wanted to see the process behind it. I worked on a three part commission (2 BJD heads plus a BJD pet). I managed to finish the two face ups, and then this week I'll be tackling the Paper Sakura Kazarai, who is black resin. The heads are a Souldoll Vito Han in sandy brown and a Fantasy Doll Charlotte in normal pink. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Souldoll Han in sandy brown skin, which is quite a lovely light tan color. The eyebrows are not completely even on purpose. Then next up we have the Fantasy Doll Charlotte in normal pink. She's meant to be the daughter of the Han. Both were a lot of fun to work on. I just love doing freckles. Makes me wish more of my dolls had them, but they really don't. Currently only my doll Mel (DC Snow Nymph) has freckles in my collection. Oh well! Not the end of the world
Either way, I'm still waiting on a couple commissions to arrive. Right now I have about a week's time before I can accept anymore. That's all from me now! I finished up 3 face ups this weekend from start to finish. I started them all on Saturday and finished them on Sunday after my eyes started going wonky on Saturday from working non stop on them. I redid the Souldoll Johnny, and I painted the Felixdoll Brownie HaHa and Haru Casting Adori. First up is the Souldoll Johnny in normal skin. I tried to do some contouring on his face and this time around both the customer and I are satisfied with the work. Next up is the Felixdoll Brownie HaHa, she is super tiny and I put freckles on her. She's also wearing teeny tiny Oscar Eyes. She was cute to work on, even if a little challenging due to the size! And then last, but certainly not least, we have the Haru Casting Adori in Volks normal skin. I'm so glad I got to see one of these cuties in person! He is beautifully sculpted, and the resin is super nice too. Haru Casting did a great job on him for sure. He's a little emperor.
That about concludes this blog post. Until next time! I got a good start on the 3 part commission I took on (Fairyland MNF Mirwen, Souldoll Tiffee, and Souldoll Johnny), I did do all 3 face ups, but I have to redo one. The Souldoll Tiffee and Fairyland MNF Mirwen are done and approved, just the Souldoll Johnny needs a redo now. Unfortunately I caught my wife's plague (cold) so I'm a bit out of commission at the moment. I'm still going to work (probably a dumb idea, but I need the paycheck), so by the time the afternoon rolls around I just want to rest. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Souldoll Tiffee in normal skin. She's an old gal who needed a cleaning before I could work on her. I couldn't get all of her old face up out of her lip crevice so I covered it with the new face up best I could. Then here we have the Fairyland MNF Mirwen in natural skin. He's the twin brother of the Souldoll Tiffee, hence why they have such similar face ups.
I'm not going to post the Souldoll Johnny pictures because I'm going to completely redo him anyway. That's all from me for now. Hopefully I'll have something new to post soon! Looks like I can only face up effectively on weekends now, still adjusting to my new job. Oh well, at least I can still do the things I love outside of work! Anyway, yesterday I worked on the Souldoll Vito Rouse in tan skin. My keywords for him were: sexy, stubble, manly. At one point I had to give him a shave and redo his stubble, but he looks pretty good right now. He was a lot of fun to work on, even though I had to redo his stubble after I sealed it. It wasn't too difficult at least. I love working on tan dolls, especially because there are so many different tans out there!
I should be able to work on another face up today even though I'll be a busy bee. I have to clean, then I'll go to Avengers Age of Ultron, and finally a doll meet again. Out of all the heads I had for painting I only managed to complete 2 this weekend. The reason is that when I tried to go on Monday to my old college to use the facilities it was closed due to the holiday. It was kind of frustrating driving all the way up there just to have to turn around and go back home. Also work was hellish this last week, so here's to hoping this week is better! Anyway, onto the new face ups. One is a brand new one, the other is a redo because due to my own stupidity of spraying outside while it was humid the face up started flaking off... I have one more redo which I'll tackle this week along with everything else I got to do. First up is my SO's Soom MD R. Rico head that's been blank since around Christmas time. Since it was her birthday yesterday I painted her for her. I finally also figured out how to color blonde eyebrows/lashes. Painting all of those scales took forever because I ran out of paint after 4 scales so I kept having to re-dip my brush. I might still work into her later again because her wig covers all the scales. Then here we have the redo face up, I have one more to do and then I can send him and his friend back to their owner. This one is the same Souldoll Vito Lester I worked on last time as well. I actually like his eyebrows a lot better this time around. Now here's to hoping the owner agrees!
Since posting the preview pictures I've actually completed another face up on a Soom MD Ai. She's my christmas gift to my SO. Anyway, onto all the detail shots! First up is the Souldoll Vito Lester in normal skin. I was asked to put a rather morose expression on his face and light freckles along his nose and cheeks. He turned out rather swell. Next up is the LumeDoll Blaze in tan skin. He is teeny tiny and got the tiniest of goatees on his face. I had a lot of fun with him but putting his eyes in was a nightmare. They're teeny tiny. Last, but certainly not least, is the Soom MD Ai. She's an original release one too. She was super floppy, so I restrung her while waiting for the final layer of MSC to dry. She's my Christmas gift for my SO. It's okay to post her though, because she hardly ever comes on my website anyway!
I have two more heads to work on, and then two more arriving this week. I should be good until I leave on the 21st to go to Florida to spend Christmas with my SO and her family. It'll be fun! Yesterday I got around to working on two face ups that are mostly complete. One is a Souldoll Vito Lester in normal skin, and the other is a LumeDoll Blaze in tan skin. The Souldoll needed freckles, and the LumeDoll got a goatee. I'm very pleased with both face ups, as is the owner (they both belong to one person). All they really need now is gloss and the Souldoll needs eyelashes.
I was a busy bee today and did two full face ups and finished another one that was already started. My partner pointed out that they all seem to have the same color scheme, just with different eyebrow colors. I think it's because each one is natural with similar skin tones.
I feel very accomplished. What's funny is, I've worked on all of these dolls before. On Friday I worked for a good four hours straight on strictly painting dolls. Sadly I was so tired by the end that I hated one of the face ups and wiped it rather quickly without taking pictures of it. The other two were about 90% done. Today I sat down and finished my two commission heads and redid the third face up. It is much cuter now. Onto the pictures! Either way, I'm quite pleased with myself at this point. I will soon take better pictures of these face ups and added them to the Example gallery.
