First things first, I want to thank all of you for sticking with me these past 2 months of hardly any updating. There's been a bad heatwave followed by a rough cold snap, and now the weather keeps changing from sunny to storming within the same day and it's done a number on my head (I suffer from migraines).
Anyway, I did get a few things done still in July that I wanted to share here. I managed to complete 3 faceups and two little Baby Mossling figures by Goblin Tales BJD. The faceups are on a Soom Heliot from the free choice event in 2011, a Soom Obsidius from this year (2023), and the redo on the MYOU 1/6 scale Gina.
Without further ado, onto some pictures under the cut!
So first I want to show the Soom Heliot in normal skin. He's been heavily modified (horn crater was removed and the eyes were opened by a previous owner), so I had to buff out the deep scratches in the forehead to make painting him easier.
He refused to give up his old faceup easily and was rather dirty on the inside too, so I gave him a soak in the punishment jar (a mason glass filled with 99.9% strength isopropyl alcohol). Now he is squeaky clean on the inside!
I also did a comparison of his old faceup to his new one. He's an ice dragon, and the owner wanted him to have a pierced ear with a chain, and I was happy to do so. I swear I spent waaaaay longer on the faceup than necessary, as I even added crystals onto the snowflake. But it looks good and that's what's important!
The next up is the handsome Soom Obsidius from this year's release "Ode, and der Abgrund" in grey skin. This boy also ended up with an intense faceup in purple and gold this time. I also have his 4 sets of wings here, which I managed to finish this past week finally. I still need to document them though.
He ended up with just one golden hoop through his upper cartilage, which was giving me trouble to put in place without accidentally scratching his ear blushing. Having super shaky hands is not a fun thing to work with!
For the last faceup of last month is the MYOU Doll 1/6 Gina in coffee skin. I had to redo her as the last faceup bubbled and flaked off due to having sprayed while the humidity was too high. That was my mistake so I redid the faceup of my own accord.
Last but not least, are the two Goblin Tales BJD Baby Mossling figures in grey and blue resin. The blue one I have painted before, but due to frequent handling the blushing rubbed off in a lot of places so I offered to redo it. The grey one is snow and purple themed, which was lovely to work on for sure!
So yeah, this was what I completed in July, I already have a few things to post for August, but that'll be posted early September. Thank you for sticking with me, and until next time!
