New Work - July 29th, 2019
This weekend I was able to finish both the modded Doll Leaves Laura, and the repaint on the Dollmore Dollpire Shiloh along with her hands. I'm pleased with both their end results! The DS Laura I first modded fangs onto (quite a feat with how small the head is!) and then gave her a face up. That head is literally the size of a grape! The Dollmore Shiloh needed a full body and head wipe, a restringing, manicure, face up, and I restored her 10 year old fullset wig.
Without further ado, onto some pictures under the read more cut!
So here we have the Doll Leaves Laura in normal skin. She needed some extra work too besides the fang mod and face up, I wired her legs so that she can sit up and stand as the body is unfortunately janky. At least I had armature wire that was small enough to shove through her elastic channels. I also tried out my new Macro lens that I got for my birthday. It is without mercy, but takes nice pictures regardless!
And here we have the Dollmore Dollpire Shiloh in normal skin as well as her hands. The face up was a lot of fun to do, especially with that specific eyebrow style. I opted for white eyelashes as her wig is a pale dirty blonde color, and my blonde/yellow lashes would have stood out too much. Sadly I do not have a before and after picture comparing her default to custom face up.
I managed to restore her fullset wig as well. When the client dropped her off with me along with the wig, she asked if there was anything that could be done to salvage it. It looked like a matted rats nest. I made no promises, but I offered to try and fix it.
So here is the wig post restoration, looks good again, even if not perfect. I soaked the wig in diluted fabric softener for 2-3 hours, pulled it out without rinsing, and combed the individual curls before letting the whole thing air dry for a day on some paper towels. One side is a little rough still, along with a section in the back. I think a previous owner tried to straighten the wig, but it isn't heat resistant so it ended up frying the fibers there... Fortunately it's hardly noticeable!
That's all from me for today, until next time!
