I have a bit of work to show again from the last weekend (not this one yet)! I'm hoping to get through the neck mod and the eyebrow repaint for a very patient commissioner. The neck just needs to be smoothed out now, and the eyebrows will get repainted today.
But anyway, work I can show today is as follows: face ups on an Angel Philia K and M, and on a modded Fairyland MNF Chloe (a previous owner added elf ears). The two AP girls have natural face ups, and the MNF has a glam/fantasy face up.
The FYI relates to my prices, the COVID-19 virus, my birthday, and what this means for the near future.
Without further ado, onto some pictures under the break!
First up are the two Angel Philia heads, the natural skin head is a K-type, and the tan skin head is an M-type. It was surprisingly entertaining to paint the K head with the tongue. I also may or may not have some silly pictures on my phone of the two heads interacting with silliness.
Vinyl heads are always a challenge for me, as they take pastels and paint differently than a resin head. I always put down 3 layers of sealant before I even touch a brush with color to a vinyl head.
And then here we have the Fairyland MNF Chloe color matched to paper white. She is originally white skin, but she's an older gal (pre-head magnets and CoAs, but definitely legit) so she was much more greened than just yellowed.
The owner wanted me to either restore her, or match her to normal skin, but even with sanding I don't think I could have gotten her this white because even on the inside she was greened/yellowed. Fortunately I was able to paint her white before doing the face up, which I'm actually quite pleased with! Getting the lip gradients right was a task in itself as Chloe has rather small puckered lips, but I succeeded!
Now for the FYI:
It's no secret, the world is a scary place right now with the COVID-19 virus strangling us all, and my country of residence (Austria) has been on lockdown since March 16th. It is currently estimated until at least through Easter, but quite possibly longer due to the quick spread of the virus.
My family and I have fortunately remained healthy, even if we're all starting to suffer from cabin fever a bit. At least we can go on walks (with at least 2 meters distance between others), the grocery store, pharmacies, and the post office.
I've been stuck on Homeoffice longer than the lockdown has been announced, but at least I still have a job.
This does not mean I'm gonna stop doing face ups. It's one of the few things keeping me sane in these crazy times. I mostly limit the doll work to weekends, so my timeframe for working on them is a couple weeks on average, but rest assured, I will get everything done and sent out. I can also hold onto commissions if you aren't comfortable with the packages navigating the current postal situation.
My birthday is coming up next week (April 1st), but sadly this year I cannot afford to hold a sale as we are down to one income currently with my wife being out of work due to the lockdown. Thank you for understanding.
I've also been waffling about increasing my prices for over a year, but I think it's time. Come April 6th, 2020, I will raise my basic prices by €5 each tier. This will only affect new quotes from when I reopen commissions after I finish up this batch. All existing quotes will be honored!
Anyway, this is it for now. Hopefully I can show new work soon again!
