Hello and welcome to Autumn! I was a very busy bee in September, more so than I have been most of this year regarding BJD work. I am almost through all of my commissions that I have on me currently (just 2 body blushes including mani- and pedicures are missing) until the next ones arrive.
Anyway, things that I worked on and completed this past September are two Luts ZuzuDelf Minimi Corni faceups with their bodies and pedestals also painted, a modded Resinsoul Ju on a modded Resinsoul Zhen body and fantasy parts blushing, and then faceups on a Peakswoods Lune the Dark Elf, a Peakswoods Goldie, a Mystic Kids Elisa Elf, an Akagidoll Yusri, and a Msytic Kids Petra. I also started on the two RealFees but didn't finish them until this month (October) so they'll be in the next update. Important to mention, this blog post contains full (doll) nudity!
Be advised, that this is a long blog post.
Without further ado, onto some pictures under the read more break!
First is the dark tan Resinsoul Ju on a Resinsoul Zhen body, to which I added feathers along the base of the ears, and along the ankles, back, and chest. I probably spent the most time on sculpting the feathers, closely followed by the painting of the body.
I admit, I dragged my feet on this commission for an eternity, and I am ever so grateful that the client was so patient with me. I finally kicked my own bum to finish it in September. The doll is a Harpy and her colors are based on Corvids, hence the pretty iridescent sheen over the black blushing.
Let me post a video to show the true effect of this:
I'm actually really proud of how the shimmer effect turned out, and the feather mods! She was so much work, but I hope the client enjoys her fully like this now!
Next up we have my wife's Mystic Kids Petra in normal yellow skin. She was a lot of fun to work on as her face has a very different vibe than my wife's usual doll preferences. She was a belated birthday/Christmas gift from me for her, and boy is that new body nice! Anyway, I wanted her to look done with things, but not like she entirely suffers from R.B.F., even if she kind of does. I think I did well!
Followed by that are the two Luts Zuzu Delf Minimi Corni's, their bodies, tails, and pedestals. I had a guided artist choice for these two, as the client gave me a lot of freedom with just the colors specified for the faceups (based on their logo).
I got to pick the pattern and execution of the concepts, which is always fun. I did struggle with the white eyeliner and painted lashes, but it still turned out cute.
I also restocked my eyelashes, and picked up some white eyelases attached to a white instead of a black strip. They look really nice honestly!
Now the next 4 faceups are all for one client, who I always enjoy working with. I won't go too in depth with these next ones, but don't worry, we're in the home stretch for this blog post entry!
Then here we have a Peakswoods Lune the Dark Elf in suntanned skin. He was a pleasure to work on, as I just love darker resin tones, and I am weak for vampires. Also Peakswoods just has really nice resin!
This one is another Peakswoods sculpt, this time a Goldie in normal skin. She features my nemesis, white eyebrows. White can be really difficult to paint for me because of various reasons, but I am happy with how she turned out.
I've painted a Mystic Kids Elisa Elf many many years ago last, and its still a great sculpt to work on. I had to color match her paler to an Angel of Dream body in normal pink, which is always a t ask and a half, but just part of the process. I really love her long wispy eyelashes here, and the wine red eyebrows to match her wig!
Finally last, but certainly not least, is an Akagidoll Yusri in normal skin color matched to a paler normal skin by the same company but a younger body. You would not believe how often I had to redo the moon on the forehead before I was satisfied with it. But he still turned out lovely I think, very fitting!
So yeah, this was my long winded and extensive blog post showcasing the doll work I completed this past September. I probably should have split it into two posts, but too late now! Thank you to those that managed to read all the way to the bottom.
Until next time!
