Hello everyone and happy midway through September! I've been a busy bee this past month and I'll be sharing a few things from August. In August I spent more time digitally drawing than painting dolls, but for that I did get some things doll-wise done too.
Things to share is a Dream Valley Bor from my personal collection, a Luts Kid Delf Summer Event head from 2017, my Simply Divine Thomas, and the Soom SG Obsidius Archangel wings from the "Ode, an der Abgrund" release.
So without further ado, onto the pictures under the break!
First up is my Dream Valley Bor in white skin with a paintjob inspired by blue jays. He's actually super sparkly and shimmery in person, but of course my DSLR doesn't like picking up those details... I struggled painting him, but I am calling him done until I decide to retry painting him.
Next up we have the Luts Kid Delf Summer Event head from 2017 in real skin normal. I'm actually really proud of this faceup, as it was the first one where I dared to paint most of the details with acrylics instead of watercolor paints.
I only have a few colors for airbrush acrylics from Vallejo (White, Black, and Burnt Umber). Black and Brown cooperate the best, white is somehow too thin and transluscent. I don't mind terribly, but it is a bit frustrating with the white paint as it takes a lot of layers to build up to a good coverage.
Then here we have my Simply Divine Thomas in Venetian Luna Sunrise, but colormatched to Volks pureskin normal. I had to repaint him as I got him a new body from DF-A secondhand. It's perfect proportionally, but his faceup had to be redone as, I quote a friend, it looked like he was wearing his summer foundation in the winter time. And Valentine wouldn't let that happen.
Here's a quick comparison of the old vs the new faceup. His old Dollzone B70-003 body was a really dark normal yellow from 2015, so I matched him to that originally. I absolutely love Val on his new DF-A 70cm body as it has the right muscle definition, moves smoother, and isn't as stiff looking as his old. I already have a portrait of him in the Owner Pictures section of my site!
And last, but certainly not least, are the 4 pairs of wings from the Soom SG Obsidius Archangel "Ode, an der Abgrund" release in white skin. They took a lot of time to blush as its all done with pastels and a buttload of golden shimmer. Again, the camera doesn't pick it up right, so have a video!
These wings are also absolutely massive, as you can see them taking up most of the space on my desk in the video. My poor desk was purple for days at a time and my white keyboard is still stained faintly purple. I'm just glad they got done and the owner received them back safely.
So yeah, that's it for today's post. I already have quite a few things to share for this month already, but that'll have to wait until the month is done.
Thanks for looking!
