Now that I've been back over a week from my vacation trip to Turkey with my dad, his girlfriend, and my wife, I can finally get back to painting dolls! Before I left I painted my wife's Aimerai QT Melodie in white skin, and when I got back I repainted my own Soom FC Chrom in bronze and I gave my April Story Betty on the NB-SD16 body a tattoo on the left arm and manicure. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is my wife's Aimerai QT Melodie. This thing was truly a pain in the butt to work on... She does not like to stand or pose very well, and keeps flipping her wings around. And then my wife gave me a difficult concept to work with... carousel horse. I did my best, and she turned out cute, but boy am I glad she's done! I even gave her little earrings, and a mohair mane and tail! Here's my Soom FC Chrom in bronze with his new face up. I really like the blushing a lot more this time around. His last face up wasn't bad, but he'd chipped the eyebrows by face-planting too often (old SG Soom body, it really can't pose very well...) and he got a new wig. Here's the comparison to his last face up compared to his current one. He fought me bitterly on his eyebrows and eyelashes, but I persevered and won the war in the end... It took me like an hour of painting and redoing the eyebrows over and over. I even had to take a break because he was being that stubborn about them! I really need to get better white paint... In the Owner Gallery is a picture of him with his wig and body. Poor thing is unevenly yellowed at this point, but I still love him, uneven coloring and all! And now, last but not least, are the hands and the left arm of my April Story NB-SD16 girl body. I slaved over that tattoo for at least 6-7 hours, but probably longer. I did it in stages over the course of two days. Now I just need to tattoo her right arm too, but all in due time. This is the first full sleeve tattoo I've ever done and the first full color one to boot. I'm debating adding a fake ring onto her hand as she's a married character, but I don't have her husband so it feels moot to do it. Maybe this is when they were still dating and her college days. Yeah, I'll go with that! Here she is, and she definitely needs something on her other arm too, and maybe some cute little tattoos on her hips! I may also swap out her eyelashes for nicer blue ones that I got in from Taobao. I think that would look nice on her!
Anyway, that's all for now, I'm still open for commission and won't be raising my prices until summer so now is as good of a time as any to message me! Until next time!

I've painted this doll four times already, because with each redo I improved and figured out something new skill wise and wanted to update the face up. The doll I'm talking about is my SO's Soom MD Shale in cream white. He has white blonde hair and the main reason I redid him this time was because I finally figured out how to do really light blonde eyelashes and eyebrows. Anyway, onto some pictures and then I'll explain the FYI! Here you can also see how I've progressed at painting him. The second face up I gave him I was learning to use brush rather than watercolor pencils and it wasn't very good... but the third time I had improved already and by the 4th he's looking pretty good!
Now for the FYI! I'm getting married this weekend to my beautiful and wonderful SO who I've been with for over 4 years. We've been friends for a good 7 years and roommates for 5.5 years. I'm so happy I get to call her my wife this coming Sunday. What does that mean for you guys? Not much really, other than that I won't be able to produce a face up easily this week due to being in full on finishing up wedding preparation. There will be at least some pictures I'm sure I'll post once the festivities are over. My dad and uncle are flying in from oversea's to attend. My sister sadly can't make it, but I'll be going with my SO to visit her and my family in Austria for Christmas (which means I'll be closing shop for the month of December). Anyway, enough blathering on my part! See you next time when I have more to post! Thanks for sticking with me! I finally got around to documenting my 140th face up, which was another repaint on my partners Soom MD Shale romantic head. Last time I repainted him he ended up far too pink. This I think is the best face up on him yet! He's meant to be very pale this unicorn boy. He's actually a hybrid on a DC body with the Shale head and full Shale fantasy legs. He's really cool. I have some pictures of his full body on my flickr. I also hit another milestone with this face up. I reached 140 face ups since I started doing them! That means that it's time for another collage, it's been a while since I've posted one. I'm very proud of this accomplishment. I already have another commission with me and one more on the way to me as I type this. It's been frigid here so I haven't been able to work from home much (it's only been in the low 50s and mid 40s in the mornings).
I also have a job interview on Tuesday, so wish me luck! I'm hoping I get it because then I can quit the job I have now and move on to something (hopefully) better. Happy weekend everyone, even if it's only my Wednesday! ![]() Yesterday I decided to finally blush Winter's hooves. It was a bit of a challenge because they are so stained. When I bought them second hand I didn't know they would be so stained because they were covered in about two layers of acrylic paint. I first scrubbed off the first layer, and then I soaked the hooves in rubbing alcohol for 24 hours. That got the rest of the paint off, but they were still rather stained because of how porous the resin is due to the hand cast nature of them. Either way, I decided to challenge myself with the fantasy blush of them, at least a little bit. I originally wanted the hooves darker than the fur, but I got a bit impatient so I simply painted cracks on them. I experimented with my pastels a bit and managed to even splatter them like acrylic paint. Now once I learn how to paint on eyelashes and eyebrow hairs without the watercolor pencils I feel like I'll level up! And here she is before and after. It's amazing what a difference a face up and wig makes. That is literally the same doll, there you can also see her original hoof blush. It looked nice from a distance, but not so much up close.
I was finally able to finish the Soom FCE Shale, just in time too! I still need to restring him and suede his ankles to keep him from chipping all the hard work I put into him. I gave him a face up, blushed all his fantasy parts, a tattoo on his chest, and did a manicure on him. I'm rather happy with how the work turned out. The white in the hooves is just there to protect the hooves from chipping until I put the suede in him. I did put gloss on the hooves and sprayed them down a few times with MSC to dull the shine.
I also worked back into the cat boy from the last commission because the commissioner changed their mind on the eyelashes. Luckily they came off easy and I didn't have to redo much of the face up at all. Good thing too. I finished up two face ups yesterday, and have one more to go today along with a body blush and a few tattoos. I will tackle that as soon as my feet are relaxed and I've had some lunch. Plus I need to go to the post office. Anyway, onto the dolls that I finished up yesterday. A Hujoo Freyr, and a Soom MD Shale. First up is the Hujoo Freyr. He's getting shipped to Lithuania today. I just need to rest a little before I go to the post office. Second we have the Soom MD Shale. I was asked to give him a concerned look and to keep the blushing very soft and gentle. I should post a picture of him with his wig on, he's really cute.
After starting a mod back in January, I finally finished my unicorn girl Rose. She was once a Dollzone Sheep, but I hybrided her with Daisy Dayes hooves. The hooves originally did not fit, so I had to mod the thighs heavily to work with them. Once I finished the mods I finally finished blushing her fully yesterday! I am quite proud of how she turned out, especially for a first mod!
