I finished up two face ups for a new client from the USA yesterday, on their Hujoo Freya sisters. That sculpt is such a cutie, and so affordable! I painted for them a white and a light grey one.
I also bought a light box finally, after like... 6 years of being a face up artist? About damn time that I did. I think one of the magnets in it is flipped though, so I have to take it apart a bit and see what's going on in there. But for €11 it's not bad.
Anyway, onto some pictures that I took in the light box!
Here are the two lovely girls. I wasn't able to get the white one's head off, so I wrapped her body in cling wrap and called it good. The light grey one was a good girl and let me decapitate her for painting. That sounds so horrible outside of the hobby, haha! Oh well. I'm just waiting to hear from the client and get paid for shipping so I can send these two cuties home.
I'm waiting on two boxes of commissions currently, and then later another, and then I should be able to open commissions again.
Until next time!
A friend of mine asked me to face up her Luts Satyros Yul in white for her and I managed to finish him yesterday despite having a migraine in the morning.
I handed him back to her yesterday afternoon and I am so glad I have photoshop because the documentation pictures were horrible colorwise. I did manage to correct them at least.
I think he turned out quite handsome. His name is Blizzard.
Also my doll Lily got a new set of legs recently. They are Soom MD Cheshire legs in white skin.
I love the way she looks now. The legs aren't a perfect fit, but they are good enough for me.
That's right, a different friend with a light grey Hujoo Nano Freya asked me to give her a real basic face up as well. It took me a few days to get to it, but she is now done and ready to go home.
She's really cute, but I can't get her to stop being wall-eyed. It's the way she's strung on the inside. She doesn't have an S-hook, the elastic just loops around the pegs her headback slides into.
Now for the FYI.
I'm going to be raising my prices by $5 coming October. Anyone that still contacts me and ships a commission to me before October will still get the current prices. Basically anything shipped after Monday will be the new prices.
I have also now reached 90 face ups, so it's time for... another collage!
I'm only 10 face ups away from my goal of reaching 100 this year. When I started the year I was at about 47. Either way, I'm super excited by the concept of possibly getting to 100 face ups within the next 3 months. I think I can manage that, but I wouldn't be able to do so without you.
So I want to say thank you to everyone that's supported me and commissioned me. I'll probably write up a real sappy post once I get to 100 face ups.
Yesterday two friends came over, and one of them brought one of the new Hujoo Nano Freya's she'd just received from JunkySpot. She asked me to paint it like the company face up because there were no painted ones offered in stock.
She's super cute, she even has little paws and a tiny tail. I was going to take pictures of her all put together, except my camera lens keeps getting stuck at the focus. I've been able to fix it so far, but I don't know how much life the lens has left in it. The only other lens I have is a telelens.
Well, looks like my plate is pretty empty again. All I have now to work on is personal projects that I always somehow put off. Two face ups I need to redo on my dolls, but I need the process documented for my new face up book.
Anyway, if you have a head laying around in need of a new face, don't hesitate to message me! I'll be raising my prices by $5 in October since it's been a good 6 months since my last price raise. So if you want a head painted at my current prices, now is the time!
In other news, my floating DZ Miss Kitty head finally got her new DC kid body.
Seeing her put together like this makes it hard to believe she was ever a YoSD. I do have to do some modding on her neck hole so that her head will sit better. DC bodies are interesting to dress because her torso fits into YoSD clothes while her hips are better suited
This week I face up-ed one of my own dolls, a Dollzone Miss Kitty. She was being a butt with her eyebrows, it took 5 tries to get them right.
She is my 70th face up to date. I'm getting much closer to my goal of 100 completed face ups this year. I have two more commissions incoming this week.
I'm also changing jobs. I just got hired into an office setting where I'll be working full time at 5 days a week. For the next three weeks I can only ship on Saturdays because I'm in training Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm.
Here she is put together. Once I refine the blushing on her ears I will document those too. I want to get her a DC Kid girl body because her head is so huge and I think she'd be beautiful on one. All in due time.
You're probably wondering what the hell the title of this blog entry means, well let me explain. All this week at work we've been prepping for mother's day because we make the most sales that day/week of. On Saturday I worked for a good 11 hours straight preparing for Sunday (mother's day). I ended up with 5 blisters on two fingers.
The good news is, it's done and over with, school is done, so now I can finish up those commissions I've had with me. I want to get them done and back to their owners as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!
Oh! And my DZ Miss Kitty arrived safe and sound. She's a wig thief.
She's super cute even blank, but I'm not painting her until I get all my commissions done. That's a really good incentive for me, not like I need one to get the commissions done. I love painting dolls after all.
I've almost completed all of the commissions with me currently. I only have two left which I'm certain I can knock out before the 21st. One head I had started on but my pastels wouldn't stick no matter what I did so I'm going to have to start over on it. It's a dyed Resinsoul Ju. The other head with me is an Illusion Spirit Annabel.
I completed a two part commission today, though I did most of it yesterday. Today all I had to do was gloss and attach eyelashes. I just sent off pictures for approval so I'm waiting to hear back from the commissioner.
She's a cat girl, and I followed as closely as I could to the mock up I was provided. I tried to get the markings as symmetrical as I could.
And here we have the ears. This was a fun commission to work on. I hope the commissioner likes the completed face up as much as I do!
Yesterday I started working on a commission, a 5Star Doll Emma who is going to be a cat girl. I sent some WIP approval images to the owner and I was told that the markings are great and the only thing to change is to lighten eyebrows. Good thing that's no trouble at all.
Here are the progress shots. I'm glad to have gotten the markings as symmetrical as possible. She's a cutie, I just wish I'd been sent with the eyes for once I'm done. Oh well, it's okay, I just prefer taking pictures with the eyes in for documentation.
Either way, I will continue working on her this morning once I get up again. Right now I'm simply up because of some minor back issues.
