I had a nice and productive weekend! I finished up two face ups (one I did twice because the sealant frosted and almost flaked the first time), and a body blush! The face ups are on an Orange Tea Dolls Olivka and Violka in dark tan. The body blush is a Luts Senior Delf girl body in light tan. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Orange Tea Dolls Violka in dark tan. This is possibly the darkest resin I've worked on thus far (besides that little black cat). It was an interesting challenge to figure out the color palette for blushing. The client wanted natural face ups for both Violka and Olivka. Then next up we have the Olivka in dark tan. This one I had to do twice because my sealant frosted really bad on her and created weird spider web patterns. At least it was a natural face up and not a super detailed fantasy one. I haven't properly documented the body blush on the Luts Senior Delf girl body yet, but I will today. For now I just have some badly lit pictures on my desk. She's definitely a gorgeous one. I did the face up a little ways back, and worked back into it yesterday to pop the lips more. For the body I did freckles, blushing, and a french manicure. The client didn't want her feet blushed as she's intending to get her some high heeled feet down the line. Now to document everything properly once I find the time after work!
Also, I just need to gush about this, but I overshot my secondary goal for this year in face up milestones! My first was to get to 250 completed face ups total since starting to do them, and then my secondary goal was 275. I'm now at 276 completed face ups and it's only October! So far this year I've done 61 face ups (and some body blushes too, but I don't count those towards the face up collage). Usually I do on average 55 face ups a year, so I feel I'm doing quite well! I still have more to do before I re-open commissions again. That's it for now, until next time!

I've been a busy bee this past week with work, but I managed to get some new face ups and the such done! I'm hoping to work on even more today since it's the butt crack of dawn still, the whole day is still ahead of me! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is a friend's Fairyland MNF Rendia in tan skin. She is a sea witch, and I was given free reign on the lips, so I did a sea green fade. I felt natural lips would be a little bland. I always love working on this color resin, even if blushing sometimes is challenging. It's not often I get to apply piercings to dolls despite having all the resources for it. I also did a comparison to her default face up. It wasn't a bad face up at all, but I do feel that Fairyland put the eyebrows waaaay too high on it. My friend had added the piercings herself, which I copied over into the custom face up. Next up is the finally completed Doll Chateau Jakov for another friend. He was pretty much done, I just had to finish up his wings. He's a David Bowie tribute doll and is finally on his way back home to his owner. Safe travels, friend! This one is a Luts Senior Delf Isabella in tan skin. It is such a lovely color! I need to work back into her lips a little more and give them more definition. She's also getting a full body blush with freckles plus a french manicure. I'm hoping to work on that today in the afternoon!
That's all for now my friends, until next time! I'm finally on a roll again and have more new work to show! This time I do have documentation of the Fairyland RealFee Sira, along with a Volks DD Estel Freesia and a Luts SSDF Summer Event 2016 head. Today I'm hoping to work on some more face ups as well! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Fairyland RealFee Sira in natural skin. She's got such a cute little mischievous face! Now just to get some owner pictures of her, she's got the cutest little orange mohair wig. Then next up we have the Volks DD Estel Freesia head in normal skin I think. Poor gal is a little stained along the top of her head from what I think a wig. She also came with a face up which took quite a bit of elbow grease to remove. I did not do the ear mod, a previous artist did. Then here we have the Luts SSDF Summer Event 2016 head in normal skin. Smoky eyes are always an interesting challenge for me, but I think I did a decent job with it! He still needs some applied eyelashes, but otherwise he's done.
Until next time! Oh man, with my new work schedule (that still changes from week to week after heaving a steady set schedule for over a year) has been really cutting into my face up time. I will get my last few commissions done though, I'll just have to do some time juggling! Anyway, this weekend I completed an Iplehouse YID Erica and another Fairyland LTF Rolly VE with an eye opening mod. First up is the Iplehouse YID Erica in special real skin. She was a lot of fun to work on to give her an icy look. Sorry for the third image being blurry, I'd already packed up the head so I couldn't retake that one. Then we have a dear friend's Fairyland LTF Rolly VE in natural skin. Her eyes were already opened by a previous artist, but I opened and shaped them a little more to make her less sleepy looking. I was asked to match her eyebrows and eyelashes to her wig, and give her blue eyeliner along with light freckles. This is at least her 3rd face up, I'm the third artist to work on her. Here's a before and after of her last face up by another artist that sadly chipped. She made a character change, hence why she needed a new look anyway! Eye opening mods with existing eyewells are a lot less intimidating than I thought they'd be. Before this I've done an eye closing mod, which wasn't too difficult either. It's kind of entertaining how I'm branching out into modding.
I'm expecting another face up to do for the same client/friend that the Rolly belongs to, as another one of her doll's face up chipped. She always has such fun concepts for me to work off of! Either way, that's it for now, until next time! I hope everyone in the USA is having a nice 4th of July here. My day was fabulous! I'm finally back in my own home after living with my mom for two weeks post her surgery. She's recovering well, though she's still got a ways to go before she's back at 100%. My mom is a trooper though! Anyway, since I'm back home, I've been able to work on commissions again. You guys have no idea how much I missed working on dolls! This also means I'm open for commissions again. I managed to finish today a Resinsoul Mei on the Rong body in fleshtone skin. She's a spunky fairy with fiery red hair. The client had her directly sent to me from the company, and is her first doll on top of it! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the face detail shots. I'm really liking the fat little eyebrows on her, which are very different from the usual style I do. Then again, I do enjoy pushing myself outside of my comfort zone! Also this is the 5th Mei I've worked on so far. It is such a versatile sculpt! She also got a body blush with freckles and a manicure as well. I haven't done a fully body blush in a natural manner in quite a while, so it was refreshing to do so once again.
I really like the sculpting on the Rong hands, they are so lovely. The body is definitely better (in my eyes) than the single jointed one Mei usually comes on. I may suede it a little, just to help out with posing a bit. Now I'm going to wind down for the evening, enjoy some chocolate, and try not to get spooked by the first fireworks. Until next time! My Doll Chateau Snow Nymph took a tumble the other week and face planted onto her glasses, scratching through her sealant and into her resin. It was an accident so I wasn't mad, but I was sad she got damaged. Either way, I wanted to get through some commissions first before I tried to fix her. Fortunately the scratches weren't deep and I was able to heat them out and then wet sand the rest of the forehead to even out everything again. Then I repainted her and I personally think she's even cuter than before! I'm much happier with her blushing and lips this time around. I still need to take some better pictures of her in daylight time. Just the quick comparison of her old face up to her new one. I feel like I over-blushed the bridge of her nose a little, but it's not too bad. I definitely like how her lips turned out this time.
That's all from me for now! This last weekend was very productive for me! I finished 3 face ups (two of which I already posted), and I'm hoping to do more through out this week before the next weekend. On Sunday I worked on and finished up on Monday morning an Impldoll Ives in real skin. Let's show some pictures! He has like the cutest big smile I've ever seen on a YoSD with cute little fangs. It's kind of funny how the last 3 face ups all included freckles. Out of the last 10 I've done, 5 of them had freckles. I'm also up to 242 face ups now! I'm almost at my goal for this year, which is 250 and we're not even halfway through the year yet.
Anyway, I'm expecting one more 3 part commission, and I need to finish the Paper & Sakura Kazarai cat and then I can send that 3 part commission home. That's all for now from me, until next time! This weekend has been productive so far for me! I had a friend fly in from out of town on Wednesday and she just left this morning. I mostly ran around with her, but I did get to do two face ups as well as she wanted to see the process behind it. I worked on a three part commission (2 BJD heads plus a BJD pet). I managed to finish the two face ups, and then this week I'll be tackling the Paper Sakura Kazarai, who is black resin. The heads are a Souldoll Vito Han in sandy brown and a Fantasy Doll Charlotte in normal pink. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Souldoll Han in sandy brown skin, which is quite a lovely light tan color. The eyebrows are not completely even on purpose. Then next up we have the Fantasy Doll Charlotte in normal pink. She's meant to be the daughter of the Han. Both were a lot of fun to work on. I just love doing freckles. Makes me wish more of my dolls had them, but they really don't. Currently only my doll Mel (DC Snow Nymph) has freckles in my collection. Oh well! Not the end of the world
Either way, I'm still waiting on a couple commissions to arrive. Right now I have about a week's time before I can accept anymore. That's all from me now! Technically I finished the face up yesterday, but didn't get around to posting it. I started it on Tuesday evening, and finished it up Wednesday morning. I was given artist's choice with this one. She's a Fairyland MNF R.A. event head from the Fairy Line release. The weather's been gorgeous here so I can work anytime on face ups! Without further ado, let's get to the pictures! The head belongs to a good friend of mine, and she wanted me to do whatever I felt like doing with the face up. The first thing I did was do freckles as I know she loves them on dolls. I sent her progress photos, but she hasn't responded yet to the final pictures yet. Soon I hope!
I knew I wanted to do a fantasy face up again since I've mostly been doing natural or basic face ups lately. Nothing wrong with those of course, but sometimes I just get the itchy for fantasy swirls! This week has been busy at work. Normally I just work part time, but this week my schedule's been shifted a little. On Monday instead of opening I closed, and Wednesday I worked an extra two hours, and today I do a full 8 hour shift as one of my fellow receptionists is ill and I don't mind covering for her. I also got the new website for work up and running, and am helping to maintain it along with the FB page. It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! Anyway, I should stop blathering now. Have a great day everyone! Yesterday after my step grandma's funeral I decided to wind down by doing a face up. This one is for a friend on her Dollzone Mini Scarecrow Hal in normal pink. She'll be picking her up in person this Sunday, so no need for postage! The Dollzone tiny body is really good at holding poses. I was experimenting a bit to see how flexible it really is. Found out she can stand on one foot without sueding or wiring! Anyway, onto some pictures! It's kind of funny, almost every face up I've done for this friend (who I adore dearly) she's requested freckles on it. Not that I mind, I love doing freckles, it's just something I noticed. Isn't she a cutie? Excuse the crappy cell phone photo, but I was quite proud of this pose for her!
In other news, I received a large multi-part commission from a client that had her dolls sent to me directly from Luts. I look forward to working on them too! Well, sadly I wasn't quite as productive this month as last as I had waaaay too much going on in my personal life, but at least I did get things done. This weekend I was going to be a lean mean painting machine, but my body decided otherwise, or rather my head (3 day migraine for the lose). At least I did get one face up done on an Angell-Studio Dina. I'm really proud of it because I managed to do it while having a raging migraine. Anyway, onto some pictures! The eyebrows alone took me over an hour to get right. White eyebrows are some of the hardest for me to do because my white pastels don't like to stick very well, or show up after I seal. So I have to free hand the eyebrow hairs completely without a base. I kept wiping them off and redoing them.
I'm also glad with this face up that I could show that I can apply piercings to dolls as well. These are just glued on, but I do have a pin vice with which I can drill holes through the ears of dolls. I stock rings and tiny balls in gold and silver currently. I did order some tiny tiny spikes as well off of ebay recently, but those I gotta wait on still at least a month! That's all from me for now, hopefully I'll be able to show new work soon! I finished up 3 face ups this weekend from start to finish. I started them all on Saturday and finished them on Sunday after my eyes started going wonky on Saturday from working non stop on them. I redid the Souldoll Johnny, and I painted the Felixdoll Brownie HaHa and Haru Casting Adori. First up is the Souldoll Johnny in normal skin. I tried to do some contouring on his face and this time around both the customer and I are satisfied with the work. Next up is the Felixdoll Brownie HaHa, she is super tiny and I put freckles on her. She's also wearing teeny tiny Oscar Eyes. She was cute to work on, even if a little challenging due to the size! And then last, but certainly not least, we have the Haru Casting Adori in Volks normal skin. I'm so glad I got to see one of these cuties in person! He is beautifully sculpted, and the resin is super nice too. Haru Casting did a great job on him for sure. He's a little emperor.
That about concludes this blog post. Until next time! I got a good start on the 3 part commission I took on (Fairyland MNF Mirwen, Souldoll Tiffee, and Souldoll Johnny), I did do all 3 face ups, but I have to redo one. The Souldoll Tiffee and Fairyland MNF Mirwen are done and approved, just the Souldoll Johnny needs a redo now. Unfortunately I caught my wife's plague (cold) so I'm a bit out of commission at the moment. I'm still going to work (probably a dumb idea, but I need the paycheck), so by the time the afternoon rolls around I just want to rest. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Souldoll Tiffee in normal skin. She's an old gal who needed a cleaning before I could work on her. I couldn't get all of her old face up out of her lip crevice so I covered it with the new face up best I could. Then here we have the Fairyland MNF Mirwen in natural skin. He's the twin brother of the Souldoll Tiffee, hence why they have such similar face ups.
I'm not going to post the Souldoll Johnny pictures because I'm going to completely redo him anyway. That's all from me for now. Hopefully I'll have something new to post soon! It was a busy weekend for me! I did 2 face ups, not quite as many as I hoped to do, but I had friends come over so my time was a little limited, but I still dented my commission list and even did one for myself! First up we have a Fairyland MNF Luka in natural skin with light freckles, light cat's eyeliner, but otherwise natural. I'm really proud of her eyelashes. She's also my 220th face up to date! Then here we have one I did for myself on my new girl, a Dollzone Moon in normal yellow skin. I wanted her to be mostly natural looking with some light fantasy aspects, such as the scales along her eyes. She is a dragon after all. I made the eyes myself, along with her wig. Here she is all put together! I still need to take some pictures of her in actual daylight. Soon!
January 2016 was a good month for doing face ups, I did a 6 face ups! That is quite a bit considering I couldn't do any for about 1-2 weeks at one point because of scheduling conflicts with my jobs. This week I'm hoping to tackle the 3 part commission I got and get that one done too. If I can't do it before the weekend not the end of the world, but I'll try regardless! I feel like I'm on a roll! After not being able to face up for about 2 weeks due to working extra hours and the weather being abysmal, I was finally about to produce two face ups for a friend of mine and her sister. Both required a cleaning before I could work on them, but that's not a big deal to me usually Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is my friends Fairyland MNF Juri 2011, who is very rare, and even rarer to find unmodded! Getting her old face up off was a nightmare, even with the Winsow & Newton brush cleaner it took me forever to get her clean. Either way, she is clean, washed, sealed, and repainted. My friend loves the way she turned out! My directions were to make her look happy, pink lips, brown eyebrows, freckles on the nose and cheeks, and black eyelashes. I'm super happy too with the result! I'm also including a quick before and after picture of her, just to show how different she looks after my handiwork. The old face up definitely wasn't bad or mediocre, it just wasn't what the new owner (my friend) wanted. Then here we have my friend's sister's doll, a Fairyland MNF Mirwen in natural skin. I was asked for dark eyes, dark lips, and loooong eye lashes along with a beauty mark under her eye, didn't matter which side. She was fun to work on since she didn't want her looking angry or sad, which is often hard to do with how the Mirwen brow bone is sculpted. I didn't have her eyes on me (she has green eyes and I didn't have any in her size in my jar), so I put some amber ones in her. I also did a before and after shot of her too. I also love seeing how different dolls look painted by different artists. It's always so amazing to me! That's all for now for face ups. Soon I will make a blog post about 2015 in review. I have the image ready and my thoughts gathered, I just haven't had the time yet to write it all up and post it! Stay tuned!
