The other day I finished up the Angell-Studio Cinderella in butter skin. She's quite a lovely gal! Pity she's OT on DoA for being accused of being a copy (NOT a recast) but there's no clear indication of which sculpt she's a copy of.
Anyway, the client asked for a pretty basic face up with rounded eyeliner rather than pointy wings as I usually do.
Now for some pictures!
I wasn't sent eyes with her so I just stuck some random acrylics in her I had laying around so she'd look a little less creepy due to being eyeless! The client sent me with some eyelashes to use on her, which are quite lovely!
I recently ordered more eyelashes off of eBay, but it'll be a while before they arrive. They are human falsies, so let's hope they are small enough to use on dolls! So far I've had good luck with them.
Oh! Head on over to the Owner Pictures gallery, I was sent some new stuff recently that I'd love for you guys to see!
Today I doubt I'll be able to work on any dolls as I work a long shift at one of my jobs, even if I'm itching to paint dolls! I mean I could work on something now as the sun isn't up yet, but I'd rather save my energy for an 8.5 hour shift at work.
That's it from me for now, until next time!
Well, sadly I wasn't quite as productive this month as last as I had waaaay too much going on in my personal life, but at least I did get things done.
This weekend I was going to be a lean mean painting machine, but my body decided otherwise, or rather my head (3 day migraine for the lose). At least I did get one face up done on an Angell-Studio Dina. I'm really proud of it because I managed to do it while having a raging migraine.
Anyway, onto some pictures!
The eyebrows alone took me over an hour to get right. White eyebrows are some of the hardest for me to do because my white pastels don't like to stick very well, or show up after I seal. So I have to free hand the eyebrow hairs completely without a base. I kept wiping them off and redoing them.
I'm also glad with this face up that I could show that I can apply piercings to dolls as well. These are just glued on, but I do have a pin vice with which I can drill holes through the ears of dolls. I stock rings and tiny balls in gold and silver currently. I did order some tiny tiny spikes as well off of ebay recently, but those I gotta wait on still at least a month!
That's all from me for now, hopefully I'll be able to show new work soon!
Sorry for not posting anything through all of June, I was moving and changed jobs, and have been busy over all! I did get to work on commissions here and there, and I FINALLY have 2 finished ones to show again. One is a Migidoll Ryu and the other is an Angell Studio HongLee modeled after Itachi from Naruto.
Onto some pictures!
This is the Migidoll Ryu, I was asked to keep his eyebrows the same from his previous face up (which was very very pink) and make him look more like a punk kid. I was given a reference photo so I went off of that.
This is the Angell Studio HongLee, who I actually had to redo because I was given bad reference pictures where Itachi was using his eye powers. I never watched Naruto so I didn't know he didn't always look angry. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. I got him redone and approved. Monday he'll be going home!
Thanks everyone for sticking with me while I was getting things in order outside of the doll hobby and community. Now to poke at all the people who I asked to wait for me to get settled!
I finally got around to repainting my new girl (Angell Studio Dina) and my partner's new girl (Fairyland MNF WooSoo Vampire). Entertainingly enough they both have a similar color scheme. Both are pale with white hair, though my girl has heavy scarring and hers has scales in the face.
First up is my new girl in all her scarred glory.
I love how subtle she turned out. I wanted to make the scars look old rather than freshly healed. It's been a long time since she earned those scars.
Her previous face up was the company default and very sweet, but definitely not my character Elandril.
Someone actually asked me to put together a tutorial for doing scars on a BJD. Luckily Elandril does have an important scar on her arm, so I can do it with that. It's so easy to do scars like that too.
Next up are the detail shots of the Fairyland MNF WooSoo Vampire girl.
This girl is spunky, because she's a rebellious teenager. The white dots on her are scales and perfectly reversible as well because they are just white glue.
