Since I have run out of commissions, and don't have any new ones lined up, I've been redoing my own dolls. That's something I need to periodically do anyway, heh. This past week I had my Soom Beyla/Glot/Eliv with a Peapod Doll mermaid tail, and April Story Betty along with her hands on my work desk to be repainted. Without further ado, onto some pictures! So here we have my April Story Betty as well as her hands. Her hands had gotten horribly chipped since the last time I painted them. The blue french tip was a last minute decision, but I'm glad I did! Her face acquired two more piercings since last time (yes, I do applied piercings and can even imbed them in the resin if so requested), and her eyebrows are lighter to match her new wig! A quick comparison of her last and current face up. Her scar is less red this time, but still there. It simply looks more healed than previously. If you'd like to see a picture of her with her wig, I have one in the Owner Gallery! Next up is my Soom Beyla OE/human head in cream white. She's a little siren girl, so scales were a must! She was quite the restoration process. I'm at least her 3rd owner, and for some parts I'm at least the 4th. Her body is a Soom Glot torso with Soom Eliv arms and ears, and a Peapod Doll mermaid tail that I later uncovered to be a sakura pink color AND one of 2 with a fade from dark butt to lighter fin in this color! What a special little girl! I scored her on the DoA MP for a good price. She was double painted (as in she was painted once, and then painted over again without removing the previous paint job), and boy was that annoying to remove. First things first, I took her apart (some of her joints were glued together from acrylic paint...) and threw her to soak in some 99.9% isopropyl alcohol. I started with the little bowl to clean her torso of the caked on paint and the glitter. After much scrubbing I got at least her torso clean. Her hands were still with a lot of paint on them, so I left them to soak longer. I quickly realized she'd need to soak fully in alcohol for at least 24 hours to remove the remaining paint. So I did that. I poured 500ml of alcohol into some tupperware and put all her painted tail pieces in there. So here my suspicion of her fin being pink was confirmed! Under the hot pink and white paint was a layer of purple and gold. The purple and gold paint sadly stained her a little in places, but that's nothing I can't hide with the new blush job! After 1.5 days of soaking in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, she was finally as clean as I was going to be able to get her. I replaced all the elastic in her and restrung her. She can do some cute things with her tail! Her face up is above obviously, but I haven't documented her body blush yet. So here she is all painted and refreshed! I slathered her in Aztec Gold PearlEx shimmer pigment after blushing her with reds. Please excuse the cruddy cell phone picture, my camera on my phone is getting dated...
The clothing is just spare stuff I had laying around, but the wig is hers and the eyes I specially made for her too. I wanted her to shimmer between gold and red as her parents are a Siren and a Fire Elemental. I think she suits them both! I'm so glad I got her after all as I'd been eyeing her on the MP for a few weeks already, trying to talk myself out of her. But I've wanted a YoSD mermaid for years now and was super sad when Peapod Doll closed... Either way, all's good! That's all from me for now, until next time!

I managed to crank out another face up this past weekend, on a Vani Dolls Hugh in white skin. He was definitely an interesting sculpt to work on due to his 4 mouth pieces. He belongs to a dear friend of mine, and they have a love for smokey eyes and bold eyebrows, a wonderful style to work in! Without further ado, onto some pictures! So there he is! I had surprisingly more fun than I thought I would with painting the mouthpieces. I don't know why one my favorite is! I even made him some small iris acrylic eyes as his eye openings are so dang small. The parts I'm most proud of are the eyebrows!
Either way, this is all from me for now! Gonna share a project with you guys at a later time. Until next time! As the title says, only 2 days remain to partake in the Birthday Sale! Buy one service, get another at 30% off! Also I managed to crank out another commission, this time I repainted a Fairyland PukiFee Luna in tan skin. I matched her eyebrows and eyelashes to her wig, she turned out darling if I may say so. Without further ado, onto some pictures! The wig is a short little curly thing that is absolutely adorable, but I sadly don't have any pictures of it placed against her faceplate with the finished face up. I wasn't sent her eyes so I used the only pair I had in my jar that fit her eye-wells. In other news, I'm nearly completion with the Crobidoll Daydream Lance commission. His torso is mostly blushed, and his hands and feet are also just about done. Next come his arms and legs! No pictures currently as I'd only have some cell phone shots and they really don't show things well.
That's all from me for now, until next time! Despite being sick, I was a busy bee during the times I felt better. I completed two face ups, and received a third to work on yesterday. The heads I worked on were an Angel Philia J/Misa and a Crobidoll Daydream Lance Version 1. The latter of the heads I worked on is getting a full body blush as well, so he's not done quite yet. But anyway, without further ado, onto some pictures! First face up I did is on an Angel Philia J (a.k.a. Misa) head in white skin. The client wanted soft blushing, brown eyeliner with small wings, and soft lips. I suggested making them look like she's wearing lip gloss with a tiny bit of shimmer in it. The client liked the idea and gave the go ahead! So here she is all pretty and cute. Vinyl is still such a different beast to work on as it's much more porous than resin. I seal a lot more before I even start on painting. Then here's the second face up I completed, a Crobidoll Daydream Lance Version 1 in normal skin. This client wanted much more dramatic eyes than the last one, with a fade from dark to a lighter blue. I even gave his eyelids a soft blue shimmer to complete is look.
He will be getting a full body blush too, but I'm waiting until next week to do so, to give myself the weekend off due to illness. At least my cough feels better today, but now I can't stop sneezing, so that's annoying too. Please don't forget that I still have my sale going on until the 15th! Buy one service, get another at 30% off! That's all from me for now, until next time! With no commissions to paint currently, I've been slowly evaluating which ones of my dolls need a refresher. This weekend Val, my Dollzone Chen in normal yellow skin, got an updated look. His head matches his body better too now! Without further ado, onto some pictures! So here's my handsome man. I wanted to mute his colors a bit to look more sickly I suppose? He's a vampire after all and shouldn't look as lively as he was. The part I'm most proud of in this face up are the eyebrows. I spent a long time on shaping and painting them! Here's the quick comparison of his old to new look. This is literally the 5th face up I've done on him, and I think I finally gave him eyelashes successfully. Though he did fight me on gluing them in place. I will end this post with the above comparison of all the face ups he's had so far.
Until next time! I had a productive weekend and finished not one, but two heads! One needed to be wiped as well as her default face up was too soft for the character. Both belong to the same client, and they are a sibling pair. One is a Little Cosmos Doll Bastian and the other is a Little Rebel André. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Little Cosmos Doll Bastian in tea skin. She turned out cute, though I struggled with the applied eyelashes. I might re-glue them before I give her back to her owner! Then here we have her big brother, an Little Rebel André in tan skin! For him the client asked for smoky eyes. And I made him some acrylic eyes as well to complete his intense look.
Both were very fun to work on and I'm glad I got to work on two new sculpts for me! Until next time! Once again, I've been a busy busy bee with face up work. I've just about finished everything I have on me, other than the DF-A BoBo and the Little Rebel Andre as the owner is waiting on his body to see if he needs a color match in the face! Things I painted the past few days are: Notdoll Ligaya, Mystic Kids Evelyn, Fairyland PukiPuki Mary, and again my Dollzone Daomiao-2 because she chipped her face up due to my rough handling of her. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Notdoll Ligaya in crystal rose skin rocking a goth look with dark blue lips. This gal's head is massive, and requires at least 18-20mm eyes. I didn't have anything in those sizes (other than some demon eyes in 18mm), so she got some grey 16mm eyes put in. It's rare that I get to do gothic face ups, I mostly get to do natural or fantasy. Despite that, I still enjoy doing darker face ups too! Then next up is another goth beauty, this time a Mystic Kids Evelyn in normal pink skin. She was tough to get clean because I swear her old eyelashes had been superglued in place. I could not get them off, not even with isopropyl alcohol! I finally had to scrape them off with a pin and rip them out with tweezers. Good thing they were already heavily damaged so I didn't feel bad ripping them further apart. This little thing is a Fairyland PukiPuki Mary in natural skin. I was given free reign with her, so she got a fantasy face up! Glittery blue make up, but otherwise naturally blushed. I need to secure her wig better too. She belongs to the same client as the Mystic Kids Evelyn. Last, but not least, is the redo face up on my Dollzone Daomiao-2 in normal pink skin. I'm actually much more satisfied with this face up than the last one. Just kind of annoying that I had to repaint her so quickly... Either way, she's a cute little thing, being the tallest of my YoSDs.
I'm still open for commissions as most that I've done these last two weeks are already back with their owners! I still need to restring the Mystic Kids Evelyn, but then she and the PukiPuki are ready to return home to their owner. I am expecting one more commission from the USA, which'll be a fun one to work on! I was a busy bee this past weekend, finishing up 2 more face ups, and a fantasy parts blush on some wings I'd made myself and sold to a client. The face ups are on a Souldoll Vito Sean and my own Dollzone Daomiao-2. Sadly my lightbox decided to croak today and can't be used anymore without short circuiting whatever it is plugged into. It shut down my laptop twice until I realized what was going on... Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the wings I painted as sparkly as I could without using actual glitter on them. First I blushed them purple/violet with pastels, then coated them in 3 layers of Macropearl Shimmer from PearlEx, and finally sealed it with MSC Gloss to keep maximum shine/sparkle. I didn't install the magnets so that the client can choose which polarity to glue them in at. I did include the magnets however! Next up we have a Souldoll Vito Sean in normal skin. He'd had a custom face up from Souldoll, but the client wasn't happy with the facial hair. I offered my services to repaint him as I've successfully done facial hair in the past. The client also wanted the eye make up like in the default face up, and for him to have a light smirk. I'm quite pleased with the outcome though, and I hope the client will like the work in person too! A lot of hours went into that beard. Last, but not least, we have my Dollzone Daomiao-2 in normal pink skin. I'm not entirely satisfied with her eyebrows or eyelashes, but for now this face up is going to stay on her. I do want to get her lighter eyes. These were the only spare ones I had in her size, or close to it at least. I even tried out giving her eyelid crease lines, which I normally never do as I usually don't like the look of them. But I needed to pop her eyes a bit more.
I still have 3 things to paint, but one I'm waiting on until his body arrives to the owner. They are local to me, so we can huddle together to make sure the colors match, and if not, make them match! That's all from me for now, until next time! I have a lot of work to show from the past couple of weeks! I've posted the collages already on the Example page, but I haven't gotten around to updating the blog here. But, that is being remedied now! Dolls I worked on were a Kids Sky Gold, Myou Vera, and two Doll Family-A Luca dolls that belong to two different owners! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Kids Sky Gold in normal pink skin. He's meant to be an albino boy and sadly his eyelashes got a little messy from swapping them too often... In the end though he's still cute! Then here we have a Myou Vera in normal skin. He's absolutely adorable and I love how his eyelashes turned out. I played up the soft smile the sculpt has with paint. He barely gave me any trouble while painting! Next up is the first Doll Family-A Luca in white skin. This one is based on a fallow deer. He turned out cute at least even if he was a bit of a pain to work on haha! And here's the last little Doll Family-A Luca in white skin that I worked on. I went with a galaxy theme for the client. There's lots of sparkles all over!
Now for the FYI: In about a week or two I'll reopen for commissions, but with limited slots. Due to my demanding job I can't devote as much time to painting dolls as I have in the past. I already have two slots filled for sure, but I'll have 2 more opening. I only have a Dollzone Scorpio left to paint from the last batch of commissions, so that's exciting! That's all from me for now, until next time! Last weekend I was a busy bee, but not this one. This weekend I've been laid low with a throat infection. At least I have some work to show from the last weekend! I dyed, face upped, made some eyes, and strung an Eve Studios Pet British Cat New in the 6cm size, painted my wife's anniversary gifts (Dollzone Snow twins), and painted a Kids Sky Gold, who I need to work back into and see if I can change the eyeliner from black to a nice warm brown. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up we have the Eve Studios Pet British Cat New in the 6cm size at the withers. This one was a commission from a friend, who was incredibly patient with me getting their kitty done. I had to dye the pieces from stark white to a Russian blue and I hand painted the eye blanks and domed them with gloss. The eyes aren't as pale as I hoped they'd be, but I'm still happy with how they turned out. Stringing the cat was a nightmare. It took me 3 tries as I couldn't find my small elastic and had to use the elastic provided by the company, which in all honesty is far too weak... Then here we have my wife's Dollzone Snow twins in normal pink skin. They arrived about two weeks ago, and are an anniversary gift from me to my wife. She already had one floating body, so I just had to get one whole doll, and a second head. Their stuff other than their wigs hasn't arrived yet, so they aren't ready to be shown to the world yet. Soon I hope!
I'm not going to post pictures of the Kids Sky Gold head as I need to work back into him and haven't taken anything other than pictures with my cell phone so far. I gotta take off the eyelashes and redo the eyeliner. I'm hopeful I can just paint over it and down't have to redo the whole face up... That's all from me for now, until next time! It's been a while since I've updated the site, so I cleaned up the example gallery a little, removing older face ups to keep the rest more up to date to my current skill level. I also repainted my Fairyland LTF Dark Elf Soo in tan skin because her old face up had bothered me for a while... I'll get to the FYI after the face up pictures. Here's my little cutie! I actually had to start over 2/3 of the way through the face up because I hated how her blushing was coming out. It looked like she'd gotten sunburnt! But that is a shame that I did not document with photos, so let's just sweep that failure under the rug to be forgotten forever. Here's the comparison of her previous to current face up. I've owned her since 2013 I think (got her secondhand), and her last face up was on her for a good 4 years, so it was time to redo it. What was entertaining was that she has yellowed in that time, except under her old eyebrows. I'm not the most careful with my own dolls, but commissions I treat with waaaay more respect than my own because I don't care if my dolls yellow. But I don't want to do that to a client's doll!
Anyway, onto the FYI: I'm closing new commissions for the moment because I have so many multipart ones incoming that I want to devote my time to. I'd rather keep my turn around time as it is while I'm looking for a full time job here again. I will make a blog post and update the landing page of my site when I'm ready to take on more again! That is all for now, until next time! This month has been exceptionally slow for commissions, but that's okay! There's always next month too, where I have some commissions lined up already. Anyway, the new work I got to show is one for myself, and one was a commission from a dear friend! My own is a Doll in Mind Gayane in normal skin, who'd been a gift from a friend before I left the USA. The commission is a Youlpa Dolls Zenji in normal skin. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up the commission, the Youlpa Dolls Zenji in normal skin, I think at least. He's meant to look like he hasn't slept in ages, and lives off of coffee and caffeine in general. It was a lot of fun to give him mighty eyebrows and eye circles. That's why I love commissions, I get to paint things on dolls I'd never think of doing with my own even! He's a floating head currently, but my friend is saving up for a body for him. Then here's Autumn, my Doll in Mind Gayane. She's got quite the history being a gift from a friend! She'd been her first doll, after I snared her into the hobby. She fell out of love with her and decided to gift her to me shortly before my move. My wife and I were going to take her with us on the plane as all our stuff had already been mailed by that point, including all but one of our other dolls. We hit some big snafu's on the flight, like our carry-ons being too heavy, so we had to check one of them. One of our suitcases was too heavy as well so we had to leave a bunch of stuff behind with a friend, one of them being Autumn. My friend finally was able to mail her back to me this past month, but her head-cap wasn't included. She hasn't found it yet, so while she searches, I made her one out of Fimo and magnets to tide her over. Here's her before and after I repainted her. She had had a default face up, which was pretty, but it's no secret I have to paint all my own dolls or I can't bond with them. I'm slowly working on modding her body to be better functioning.
The DiM Happy Glamour Body is... janky at best. I restrung her with fresh elastic, and elongated the elastic slots on her thighs. Next up is hollowing out her hip sockets so she stops rocking back on her butt and finally sits up straight. I've never done mobility mods like this before, so it's kind of exciting! Anyway, this is all for now! I'm still open for commission as my slots aren't filled. I'm itching to paint more dolls! Maybe I'll repaint my Fairyland LTF DES next... Until next time! Now that I've been back over a week from my vacation trip to Turkey with my dad, his girlfriend, and my wife, I can finally get back to painting dolls! Before I left I painted my wife's Aimerai QT Melodie in white skin, and when I got back I repainted my own Soom FC Chrom in bronze and I gave my April Story Betty on the NB-SD16 body a tattoo on the left arm and manicure. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is my wife's Aimerai QT Melodie. This thing was truly a pain in the butt to work on... She does not like to stand or pose very well, and keeps flipping her wings around. And then my wife gave me a difficult concept to work with... carousel horse. I did my best, and she turned out cute, but boy am I glad she's done! I even gave her little earrings, and a mohair mane and tail! Here's my Soom FC Chrom in bronze with his new face up. I really like the blushing a lot more this time around. His last face up wasn't bad, but he'd chipped the eyebrows by face-planting too often (old SG Soom body, it really can't pose very well...) and he got a new wig. Here's the comparison to his last face up compared to his current one. He fought me bitterly on his eyebrows and eyelashes, but I persevered and won the war in the end... It took me like an hour of painting and redoing the eyebrows over and over. I even had to take a break because he was being that stubborn about them! I really need to get better white paint... In the Owner Gallery is a picture of him with his wig and body. Poor thing is unevenly yellowed at this point, but I still love him, uneven coloring and all! And now, last but not least, are the hands and the left arm of my April Story NB-SD16 girl body. I slaved over that tattoo for at least 6-7 hours, but probably longer. I did it in stages over the course of two days. Now I just need to tattoo her right arm too, but all in due time. This is the first full sleeve tattoo I've ever done and the first full color one to boot. I'm debating adding a fake ring onto her hand as she's a married character, but I don't have her husband so it feels moot to do it. Maybe this is when they were still dating and her college days. Yeah, I'll go with that! Here she is, and she definitely needs something on her other arm too, and maybe some cute little tattoos on her hips! I may also swap out her eyelashes for nicer blue ones that I got in from Taobao. I think that would look nice on her!
Anyway, that's all for now, I'm still open for commission and won't be raising my prices until summer so now is as good of a time as any to message me! Until next time! I was a busy bee again and managed to get two more face ups cranked out, one for a client, and another for myself. The commission face up is on a Flower & Junior Mizi.W in white skin, and the personal face up is on a Limhwa EOS Nina in normal skin. I'll get to the FYI after I post the images. Without further ado, onto some pictures! Here is the Flower & Junior Mizi.W in white skin. Her theme was fantasy utilizing black, gold, and red. I'm really happy with how she came out! I kept the fantasy aspects off of the forehead as she has a wig with bangs. She's the sister to the Miracle Doll Jing I recently painted. So swirlies for both! This also means I'm finally done with this huge commission of 4 fantasy face ups and a restring and suede job of an MSD body. Below is a picture of everything I worked on for that client. I hope I get to see all of these dolls in their owner's pictures! I love owner pictures and need more of them! But anyway, onto the other face up I completed today. Here's my Limhwa EOS Nina in normal skin. I made her eyes before I did her face up and boy are they intense! I love that I was able to give her freckles (sometimes dolls will fight me on them...) as she's a redheaded character. Painting her went very smoothly too, only took 3 layers from start to finish. I'll pop a picture of her dressed and wigged below. Now that all the new work is out of the way, onto the FYI!
I am open for commissions again now that I completed everything I had on my plate! Also, next month I'll be raising my prices by €5 on each sizing tier, so message me before April if you want the current prices still! That's all from me for now, until next time! I was a busy bee this week! I managed to crank out two more face ups, and did some maintenance on one of the dolls. I worked on an Anhais Studio Jupiter head, that was modled after Kylo Ren from the new Star Wars movies. I also worked on an old boy, a Dream of Doll Too. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Dream of Doll Too in what we can assume is normal skin. He's so old that his headcap stays on by placing the S-hook in it. So I had to take him apart from the feet going up. I was given free reign on his face up, and decided to go a bit of a fantasy route along the eyes. He needed a bunch of other work too as his torso stabiliser had come loose, so I glued that back in place, restrung, and sueded him. Now he stands like a rock! Here's a quick snapshot with my cell phone of him with his clothes and wig on. I could even get him to stand with a knee bent after I was done with him! Anyway, now onto the next face up! Here is the Anhais Studio Jupiter head that is based on Adam Driver, the actor who plays Kylo Ren in the new Star Wars films. Doing scars is always a fun, and annoying process because I use the PVA glue method. So it can take forever to dry depending on the size of the scar. Jupiter up there has a pretty big one, so I had to wait quite a while before I was able to start on the blushing part. I actually really love how his eyebrows turned out. I tried a more realistic approach to them rather than my usual style. Definitely paid off on such a realistic head!
Anyway, that's all from me for now. Until next time! |
