I had an itch to repaint one of my dolls, specifically my Dollzone April, because I didn't like how badly I over-blushed her. So shortly after completing my 400th face up, I'm already on my 401st! I also have an exciting FYI to share with you guys at the end of the post! Without further ado, onto some pictures! So here's my girls new face up! I kept the colors the same, just with much less blushing and switched up the designs a bit since the bangs of her wig hid the ones going up her head. I sadly fudged up the lips in the glossing stage, so I had to paint over them again. Oh well, better luck next time I suppose! Here you can see how much (or little) the face up changed. Also made her some bright green acrylic eyes, as the orange-hazel ones I'd made her previously made her look much too samey all over.
Now for the FYI! My 30th birthday is coming up fast here (April 1st, yes I am a joke and tell terrible jokes), so I wanted to do something special for it! How does 30% off sound to you guys? Rules are simple, they apply to any multipart commission I receive: Contact me from now until April 15th for a slot (I'll also honor multipart commissions I haven't received yet) for more than one service (i.e.: two face ups, body blush and face up, face up and manicure, etc...), pay one service full price, and any additional service will be 30% off! The most expensive service will be the full price one, and any additional ones will be at the discount. I'm willing again to take on up to 3 services per slot again, as I'm still trying to get a job so I have some time still. But do keep in mind that it will extend my turnaround time if I have more than one part to work on per slot! That's all from me for now, until next time!

Cranked out a couple more face ups this week, one on a Fairyland MNF Momo and the other on my own Resinsoul Ai. I finally reached 400 completed face ups since I started painting dolls in August/September of 2011! The MNF Momo was a commission from a dear local friend, and the Resinsoul Ai is one of my own. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up we have the Fairyland MNF Momo in natural skin. She belongs to a dear friend of mine, who also asked me to make her some eyes. I let them pick the color (lavender) and made them with acrylic bases in 12mm. 14mm eyes were far too big and her original eyes were also way too dark. She had come to me with a Default face up (and too big eyes), but my friend wanted her to be a lot more pink. The default face up was very pretty, but not exactly flattering, especially how they did her mouth. And here we have my Resinsoul Ai in fleshtone skin from 2011 named Zephyra. This face up is very special as it is my 400th! I finally reached this wonderful milestone, and to celebrate it I repainted Zephyra. It's tradition for me to repaint her every 99 face ups to be the next 100th. I always keep the theme the same, so that I can track my improvement better. Hard to believe that it only took 2 years to paint 99 face ups (and a bunch of fantasy and body parts) to get here. She's gone through so many face ups, only doll with that many in my collection is Val (Dollzone Chen), who I think I've also painted 5 times. I'll need to check at some point to see. Again, for this face up I used Citadel Munitorum Varnish for sealant, and I'm still having difficulties with it. It has a lot less tooth than MSC, so I had to layer quite a bit more than I usually do. But, shimmer shows up much better post-sealing with this sealant. MSC likes to pretty much dull it away unless I paint it on. Reaching 400 face ups also means that I can share my monster collage again. On my computer it's all one very long image file, but I broke it apart here so it's easier to zoom in and look at the face ups.
Man... I started this collage when I reached 50 face ups, that's why the first image was really.... diverse in backgrounds. I eventually figured out that keeping the same background is a better idea for unity! It also wasn't until last year that I got a photo light box to take pictures in. My documentation pictures definitely improved once I acquired one of those. Still learning how to set my camera for it so I don't have to do as much post-photo color and lighting corrections. That is all from me for today, until next time! I managed to crank out this weekend another commission, this time it was artist choice. The head is a Fairyland Feeple60 Chloe, the first Fairyland Chloe I've ever worked on. I've always joked that I'm not popular enough to paint one as I've literally never been commissioned to paint one. The sculpt is very doe-eyed and has lips for days. Without further ado, onto some pictures! I'm usually hesitant to do artist choice, because the possibilities seem so endless, and I always have the worry of "will the client like this???", but it went well with this one as the client owns several heads they just like to go wild on. I've always wanted to do another butterfly wing along the eyes face up, as the first one I did was more like fiery wings than specifically butterfly ones.
Her ears were already pierced, so I put hoops in with little stars dangling from them. I think it's a cute touch! Now I just need to pack her up and get a shipping estimate back to the client. I'm still open for commissions! My slots are not even half filled currently, so if you'd like one of my face ups on your dears, please don't hesitate to contact me! That's all from me for now, until next time! As I'm still waiting on a commission to leave customs (don't know the charges yet), I painted my wife's last two blank heads. They are Soom MD Serin/Rico heads, one is the open eyed version, the other is the romantic head. Now I just need to paint the torso of her Dollzone body and she's finished other than her proper outfit. Without further ado, onto some pictures! I worked on both heads together as they belong to the same character. I tried to keep the scales as identical as I could, so that it wouldn't be as jarring to switch between the heads. I love doing freckles, it's been too long since I've done lots of them!
I've been experimenting with Citadel Munitorum for my own face ups, as I'm trying to save my MSC for commissions. So far I still prefer MSC, I feel it has a better tooth and colors stick better to it than the Citadel sealant. For example I had to really layer the lips with far darker and intenser colors than I usually do when I use MSC. For commissions I'm still gonna stick to using the MSC, because I know that beast better. The Munitorum also has a satin finish rather than a true matte. I'm finally healthy physically again, will be heading to the post office today to send out some packages that I've been sitting on far too long. I apologize for the delay! Oh! Just a little exciting for me news, I'm almost at 400 face ups! I'm literally at 397 currently. Two more and I can repaint Zephyra and see if I've gotten better in the last two years. I am excited! Commissions are still open, so please don't hesitate to contact me! That's all from me for now, until next time! While waiting on my last commission to arrive from this batch, I decided to repaint my Fairyland LTF Juri 2013 in natural skin. My wife gifted me for Christmas a second Juri2013 faceplate, that I modded to dreaming. I'm a sucker for having dolls with open and sleepy eyed looks. I was always sad that I would never be able to get that a dreaming/sleeping head for Aurora (my LTF Juri 2013) because she's an event faceplate. Then I realised I can mod! Anyway, without further ado, onto some pictures! I've been meaning to repaint Aurora for months, but I had to wait for her second faceplate to arrive so I could work on them together to keep them as close as possible. The first thing I did of course was mod the second faceplate from open to dreaming, which was a task and a half in itself. This is only my second time closing eyes. I don't do mods often, but I do enjoy them to be honest! I still need to paint her horns and wings, as well as possibly blush her little paws, before I can call her done again. She used to be purple themed, but I felt as a princess gold would be a much better color scheme for her! Her previous face up was a good 3 years old. It's kind of fun to see how much I've improved in just a couple of years! My eyebrows have definitely improved by leaps and bounds, as well as my painted eyelashes.
It's kind of funny, I'm looking forward to redoing my Resinsoul Ai (Zephyra) as I'm 4 face ups away from reaching 400 completed face ups. Zephyra always has to be the 100th face up, no matter how many heads I have laying around. It's tradition to see how much I've improved in 99 face ups since the last time I painted her. Anyway, that's all from me for now, until next time! Just as the title says, I'm open for more commissions again! I completed everything I received faster than anticipated so I was able to re-open before the month was up as well!. My new prices have gone into effect as well, so please be aware of them. Anyone that's already gotten a quote from me won't be affected as I'll honor those. I also was able to finish the last face up in my possession, on a Mithral Dolls Mirage in dark tan. She belongs to a dear friend of mine and I'm so glad she let me work on the second shell for the character. Without further ado, onto some pictures! The doll is a wonderful chocolate tan, which can be tricky to blush as the pastels change after you seal them. They always look lighter at first, fortunately I've worked on such dark resin before and can safely assume how it'll look once sealed.
I can't wait to see her styled by her owner! I loved the old shell too, but this new one is fantastic for the character. At least she no longer has a white wig, so I didn't have to battle with white eyebrows/lashes! That's all from me for now, until next time! Whew, finally got some commissions in and managed to finish a multipart one already! I only got to show the Goblin Tales Mossling spring edition that I painted for a dear friend of mine. Without further ado, onto some pictures. The FYI will come at the end! I poured a lot of work into this little critter, in fact I devoted most of yesterday to painting him. My friend asked for a little lady bug on his face, which I loved. So of course I had to make it look like the lady bug would travel along the face haha.
Now for the FYI: With January over and it officially being February for a few days, I raised my price points by €5 each for basic work. It's been over a year since I increased my prices last and I feel my added experience and skill warrants a higher price. This is only for new commissions, not ones where I've already given a quote. Those I will honor of course. That is all for now, until next time! With no commissions to paint currently, I've been slowly evaluating which ones of my dolls need a refresher. This weekend Val, my Dollzone Chen in normal yellow skin, got an updated look. His head matches his body better too now! Without further ado, onto some pictures! So here's my handsome man. I wanted to mute his colors a bit to look more sickly I suppose? He's a vampire after all and shouldn't look as lively as he was. The part I'm most proud of in this face up are the eyebrows. I spent a long time on shaping and painting them! Here's the quick comparison of his old to new look. This is literally the 5th face up I've done on him, and I think I finally gave him eyelashes successfully. Though he did fight me on gluing them in place. I will end this post with the above comparison of all the face ups he's had so far.
Until next time! With being out of commissions to currently do, I decided to repainted a floating head of mine as an alt-head for one of my own dolls. Her last face up was stubborn to remove, but hey, it didn't stain! The head is an Impldoll Azalea Elf, and her last face up I "lovingly" nicknamed the Candy Abomination. Without further ado, onto the pictures! So here we have my spare Impldoll Azalea Elf head in real skin. I decided to give her a glam look as my doll's other head is naturally painted without any make up. This face up took roughly 3 hours to complete, like half an hour of that was waiting for the glue to dry! Here we have her two heads side by side. I painted the left head back in 2016 I think, so it's been a while! My blushed has definitely gotten softer and with better gradients. I also added "piercings" to her glam head that I painted yesterday, as the character is meant to have a bunch of them. They're just glued on though. And I'll end this entry with the comparison of the face ups on this head. Now you can see what I mean with "candy abomination" on the before face up. Though I do love the new one!
That's all for now, until next time! Finally got around to finishing up my last two commissions, and I did some website maintenance as well. I updated my logo (minimal changes) and redid every page's banner with new images! The two dolls I worked on are a DikaDoll Mudan who only got some elf ears from me, and another Doll Family-A Luca that got tattoos all over! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the DikaDoll Mudan with a face up from another artist, and an elf ear addition by me. The client wanted her to have ears similar to Doll Leaves Theresa, so I did my best to mimic them, just with more detail. I then blushed them to match! And here we have the Doll Family-A Luca I painted for a client. They wanted me to base her paint job on cherry blossom stained glass, so that was a fun challenge! She turned out lovely in my opinion and I barely had to make any corrections.
Anyway, I'm out of commissions currently, so now is the time to contact me if you want a face up from me still at my current pricing. Until next time! I had a productive weekend and finished not one, but two heads! One needed to be wiped as well as her default face up was too soft for the character. Both belong to the same client, and they are a sibling pair. One is a Little Cosmos Doll Bastian and the other is a Little Rebel André. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Little Cosmos Doll Bastian in tea skin. She turned out cute, though I struggled with the applied eyelashes. I might re-glue them before I give her back to her owner! Then here we have her big brother, an Little Rebel André in tan skin! For him the client asked for smoky eyes. And I made him some acrylic eyes as well to complete his intense look.
Both were very fun to work on and I'm glad I got to work on two new sculpts for me! Until next time! Already a new blog post? I'm just as surprised as you are! As a New Year's resolution I want to upkeep this section of my website better, so I don't post so much new work in a single post. Let's see how long I can keep up with it, haha! I finished up the Impldoll Baby Colby yesterday and got the pictures approved last night, so I can share them now here. She's a cute little girl in pink skin and is absolutely adorable. I'm lucky that pet dolls aren't really my thing, so I'm safe from wanting one. But anyway, onto some pictures! Here she is! I kept her color scheme to pinks and a little bit of magenta/purples as well just to make her details pop. I painted scales along her face as I felt it was too bland otherwise. She also has a subtle shimmer going on along her whole body.
My little light box broke over the holidays (wouldn't turn on and kept short circuiting my laptop when I plugged it in to light it up), but fortunately my dad misunderstood my christmas wish and bought me a new one, that's like 6 times as big and I have no clue where to put it so I don't have to keep disassembling it. I'm still learning to set my camera for it, these pictures were the first ones I took in it! I'm still open for commission! Only January left with my current pricing, and then February 1st, 2019 comes the price increase. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, until next time! I hope everyone had a good Holiday season with much cheer and merriment! As well as a good slide into the new year. My holiday was a little hectic, but it ended on a high note, so that's good. To finish up 2018 I painted one more doll, a Doll Family-A BoBo in white skin. He ended up becoming a Koi fish that I'm gifting to a dear local friend and their kids. And the Impldoll Colby arrived and is in process already, but no pictures yet as I need to send some to the owner to see what they think. The FYI will come at the end! Anyway, onto some pictures! Here he is in all his fishy glory! I did brush a ton of shimmer powder on him, which is very subtle along the fins after sealing. Also I swapped out his brown acrylic eyes for these red glass ones to make him really glow!
Now for the FYI: It's been a long time since I've upped my prices, and I feel my work has advanced enough to raise them by €5 on each basic tier. I meant to raise them last year around my birthday, but never did. This time the price increase will come on February 1st, so January will still have my current pricing. I wish for you all to have the best year yet in 2019! Here's to the future!! Once again, I've been a busy busy bee with face up work. I've just about finished everything I have on me, other than the DF-A BoBo and the Little Rebel Andre as the owner is waiting on his body to see if he needs a color match in the face! Things I painted the past few days are: Notdoll Ligaya, Mystic Kids Evelyn, Fairyland PukiPuki Mary, and again my Dollzone Daomiao-2 because she chipped her face up due to my rough handling of her. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Notdoll Ligaya in crystal rose skin rocking a goth look with dark blue lips. This gal's head is massive, and requires at least 18-20mm eyes. I didn't have anything in those sizes (other than some demon eyes in 18mm), so she got some grey 16mm eyes put in. It's rare that I get to do gothic face ups, I mostly get to do natural or fantasy. Despite that, I still enjoy doing darker face ups too! Then next up is another goth beauty, this time a Mystic Kids Evelyn in normal pink skin. She was tough to get clean because I swear her old eyelashes had been superglued in place. I could not get them off, not even with isopropyl alcohol! I finally had to scrape them off with a pin and rip them out with tweezers. Good thing they were already heavily damaged so I didn't feel bad ripping them further apart. This little thing is a Fairyland PukiPuki Mary in natural skin. I was given free reign with her, so she got a fantasy face up! Glittery blue make up, but otherwise naturally blushed. I need to secure her wig better too. She belongs to the same client as the Mystic Kids Evelyn. Last, but not least, is the redo face up on my Dollzone Daomiao-2 in normal pink skin. I'm actually much more satisfied with this face up than the last one. Just kind of annoying that I had to repaint her so quickly... Either way, she's a cute little thing, being the tallest of my YoSDs.
I'm still open for commissions as most that I've done these last two weeks are already back with their owners! I still need to restring the Mystic Kids Evelyn, but then she and the PukiPuki are ready to return home to their owner. I am expecting one more commission from the USA, which'll be a fun one to work on! I was a busy bee this past weekend, finishing up 2 more face ups, and a fantasy parts blush on some wings I'd made myself and sold to a client. The face ups are on a Souldoll Vito Sean and my own Dollzone Daomiao-2. Sadly my lightbox decided to croak today and can't be used anymore without short circuiting whatever it is plugged into. It shut down my laptop twice until I realized what was going on... Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the wings I painted as sparkly as I could without using actual glitter on them. First I blushed them purple/violet with pastels, then coated them in 3 layers of Macropearl Shimmer from PearlEx, and finally sealed it with MSC Gloss to keep maximum shine/sparkle. I didn't install the magnets so that the client can choose which polarity to glue them in at. I did include the magnets however! Next up we have a Souldoll Vito Sean in normal skin. He'd had a custom face up from Souldoll, but the client wasn't happy with the facial hair. I offered my services to repaint him as I've successfully done facial hair in the past. The client also wanted the eye make up like in the default face up, and for him to have a light smirk. I'm quite pleased with the outcome though, and I hope the client will like the work in person too! A lot of hours went into that beard. Last, but not least, we have my Dollzone Daomiao-2 in normal pink skin. I'm not entirely satisfied with her eyebrows or eyelashes, but for now this face up is going to stay on her. I do want to get her lighter eyes. These were the only spare ones I had in her size, or close to it at least. I even tried out giving her eyelid crease lines, which I normally never do as I usually don't like the look of them. But I needed to pop her eyes a bit more.
I still have 3 things to paint, but one I'm waiting on until his body arrives to the owner. They are local to me, so we can huddle together to make sure the colors match, and if not, make them match! That's all from me for now, until next time! |
