I got one more body blush done on Sunday and approved yesterday morning! This time I worked on an Iplehouse FID man body in normal skin. I also restrung him with new elastic. Holy cow was that a challenge due to how small his elastic channels are! It literally took me an hour to restring him because I couldn't get his s-hooks back in place. Anyway, onto some pictures! He has so many muscles this guy, it's insane! It's like someone ordered a muscle sandwich topped with more muscles. Don't get me wrong, he's beautifully sculpted, but wow, that's a lot of veins on him! I had his head sent with too, but I didn't do his face up as that's an Iplehouse default. I'm glad the client sent the head with so I could match the blushing colors to the face up so it doesn't look weird! Just look at this handsome hunk of resin! The head is the Lawrence sculpt from Iplehouse. Definitely some nice features on this guy!
Oh! I am hoping to re-open commissions soon! I already have a full waitlist at this time, so I'm hoping to get through those faster. Body blushes really take a lot of of me. I definitely prefer doing face ups, but I can see the appeal of body blushes too! Until next time!

I finally got one of the big guys done, the Impldoll Idol SGB Boy body in tan skin. I had already finished his face a few weeks ago, but then I had to blush his body and add a scar onto his thigh to look like a shark bite. Word or the wise, do not look up "shark bite scars" on google if you don't want to see a bunch of fresh wounds. I finally gave up trying to find a good reference and improvised. Anyway, onto some pictures! Here we have the detail shots of the body. So much work went into the blushing and then I had to restring him. Surprisingly he was easier to restring than the Iplehouse FID Lawrence I have to blush. He was floppy and needed a restringing so he'll be next to get blushed. He already has a face up, so he just needs a body blush! Fortunately he's MSD sized, unlike this guy who's roughly 72cm tall. I was sent his wig too to color-match his eyebrows and the such. I struggled a bit with trying to figure out which way was up or down for it. I even made this guy a little shark tooth necklace made of a real fossilized shark tooth I got while on vacation. I have more of them, as my doll Jazz needs one.
Until next time! I had a very productive weekend! I finished up the Aileen Doll Cyclops and got a face up done on the Impldoll Martin. I still need to do his body blush, mani/pedi, and do a scar mod on his thigh. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Aileen Doll Cyclops girl in white skin. I only had one eye the right size for her, which entertainingly enough came from another Aileen Doll Cyclops, but the boy version with the fully open eye. For this commission I glued in magnets for the horns in the head, nebula/galaxy face up, blush the horns, and do a mani/pedicure too with blushing. Then next we have the Impldoll Martin in tan skin. The client, a very good friend of mine, asked me to bronze him up a bit as if he's in the sun a lot as he's a surfer character. Now to just blush his body the same way! He also needs a shark bite scar mod on his thigh, which'll be a fun challenge for me!
Commissions are still closed currently as I'm painting my way through all my commissions. I have a rather large pile still to get through. Thank you for everyone being so patient with me. My hours at work will finally go back to normal in a week! WOO! That means I can devote more time to commissions again, I can hardly wait! Until next time! I finally documented the Luts Senior Delf Girl Type 1 body in light tan yesterday and got the images approved by the client. Now just to pack her up, the SDF Summer 2016 event head and get some shipping estimates! Anyway, onto some pictures! I'm quite proud of the blushing, and it really is a beautiful body and poses oh so nicely. She has subtle freckling all along her chest and back, and some along her upper arms. I tried to keep them in places where the joints wouldn't rub in the sockets. Now to just get her packed up and sent home! I'm hoping today to work on more face ups again as yesterday I hit a wall after work due to a bad migraine. I'm feeling much better today and as long as the weather holds I should be fine! This morning I also FINALLY dusted the doll dresser, it was getting pretty grey from dark brown/nearly black. Whoops... It just took a little bit because there's 27 dolls between my wife and I. The cats were most excited by the dresser being doll-less and I had to shoo them away the boogers. This is all of them currently. I'm slowly saving up towards one more, but I fear I have to grab into my doll fund to get my car fixed. Something got mucked up when I got new tires and the alignment fixed... Now my car won't start properly. Fortunately we do have enough saved up to maintain my car. We can't afford for me not to be mobile on my own. Sorry for the rambling!
Anyway, that's all from me for now, until next time! I had a nice and productive weekend! I finished up two face ups (one I did twice because the sealant frosted and almost flaked the first time), and a body blush! The face ups are on an Orange Tea Dolls Olivka and Violka in dark tan. The body blush is a Luts Senior Delf girl body in light tan. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Orange Tea Dolls Violka in dark tan. This is possibly the darkest resin I've worked on thus far (besides that little black cat). It was an interesting challenge to figure out the color palette for blushing. The client wanted natural face ups for both Violka and Olivka. Then next up we have the Olivka in dark tan. This one I had to do twice because my sealant frosted really bad on her and created weird spider web patterns. At least it was a natural face up and not a super detailed fantasy one. I haven't properly documented the body blush on the Luts Senior Delf girl body yet, but I will today. For now I just have some badly lit pictures on my desk. She's definitely a gorgeous one. I did the face up a little ways back, and worked back into it yesterday to pop the lips more. For the body I did freckles, blushing, and a french manicure. The client didn't want her feet blushed as she's intending to get her some high heeled feet down the line. Now to document everything properly once I find the time after work!
Also, I just need to gush about this, but I overshot my secondary goal for this year in face up milestones! My first was to get to 250 completed face ups total since starting to do them, and then my secondary goal was 275. I'm now at 276 completed face ups and it's only October! So far this year I've done 61 face ups (and some body blushes too, but I don't count those towards the face up collage). Usually I do on average 55 face ups a year, so I feel I'm doing quite well! I still have more to do before I re-open commissions again. That's it for now, until next time! I hope everyone in the USA is having a nice 4th of July here. My day was fabulous! I'm finally back in my own home after living with my mom for two weeks post her surgery. She's recovering well, though she's still got a ways to go before she's back at 100%. My mom is a trooper though! Anyway, since I'm back home, I've been able to work on commissions again. You guys have no idea how much I missed working on dolls! This also means I'm open for commissions again. I managed to finish today a Resinsoul Mei on the Rong body in fleshtone skin. She's a spunky fairy with fiery red hair. The client had her directly sent to me from the company, and is her first doll on top of it! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the face detail shots. I'm really liking the fat little eyebrows on her, which are very different from the usual style I do. Then again, I do enjoy pushing myself outside of my comfort zone! Also this is the 5th Mei I've worked on so far. It is such a versatile sculpt! She also got a body blush with freckles and a manicure as well. I haven't done a fully body blush in a natural manner in quite a while, so it was refreshing to do so once again.
I really like the sculpting on the Rong hands, they are so lovely. The body is definitely better (in my eyes) than the single jointed one Mei usually comes on. I may suede it a little, just to help out with posing a bit. Now I'm going to wind down for the evening, enjoy some chocolate, and try not to get spooked by the first fireworks. Until next time! I managed to finish up working on a manicure and tattoo job on a Fairyland MNF arm and #6 hands. I was given free reign with the tattoo as long as it was henna-looking, but the design was completely up to me. I had a lot of fun with it and added a small ring to the other hand. Without further ado, let's get some pictures! Here's first some details of the manicure and ring mod I did on the hands. I had a lot of fun with both, the ring mod was very easy and fun to do. This is actually the first time I've ever worked on MNF hands, and I even used to own one! I'm silly I know, but generally I don't really blush my own dolls hands or bodies. Then finally here are the detail shots of the henna tattoo I did on the right arm and hand. I can't wait to see this on the doll! Fortunately I do know I will as the client is a friend of mine and I love seeing her dolls!
I also started working on the Doll Chateau Larry and am almost done with the Doll Chateau Jakov. I just have to deepen the color on his wings and the Larry I had to stop working on as it started to rain so I couldn't seal. The bane of a face up artist, the unfavorable weather! Anyway, that's all from me for now! Have a lovely rest of your weekend guys! I finished up the Luts Delf Ju Hee yesterday along with tweaking the Luts Senior Delf Juniper a little upon the client's feedback. I had so much fun with both. Here's the Juniper, all I tweaked on her were the lips to give her more of a little smile. I still need to try some various wigs on her and report to the client. I offered to try out my 8-9 wigs on her to see what brands fit the best. Then we have the Ju Hee, who got a face up and body blush with a bloody manicure. She was an interesting challenge because my grey pastels apparently don't like building up easily so it took several layers to do so. First up is her face up work. She's meant to be a Yurei, a Japanese ghost. It was funny to me to compare her to the Luts promo pictures of her once I was done painting her. She looks so sweet and innocent on the Luts site. And then here we have the body blush I did on her along with her bloody manicure. I liked working on this doll a lot as it pushed me outside of my usual boundaries. I also learned how to mix a blood red color finally! Took some Carmin red with Burnt Sienna and a touch of Purple. I'll end this post with a picture of the Ju Hee with a random wig of mine on her. Have a good one you guys!
I finally got to 230 completed face ups! This is also my 4th face up on a Resinsoul Mei. It's such a pretty and versatile sculpt. I also blushed some Withdoll MSD Boy Hands with the face up. The RS Mei is in fleshtone (which is a normal pink color), and the hands are in white skin. I was asked to blush a happy medium tone between the two. First up, the face up on the Resinsoul Mei. He's an elf boy, and for inspiration I was given pictures of Legolas and Thranduil from Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit. I wasn't sent eyes with so I just used some spare ones I had laying around. Then here we have the Withdoll MSD boy hands in white skin. They were a lot of fun to blush, I used the same colors as I did on the face up to pull it all together. And just a picture of the hands with the head. It obviously isn't a perfect match, but I didn't want to go too pink as then the hands would look weird on the body. Now that the work's been shown, it's time to post an updated face up portfolio collage! It just keeps getting bigger and bigger! What a lovely sight! It's always so much fun for me to look over this collage and see how much I've improved since starting to do face ups in late 2011. I've been at it about 4.5 years now. What a ride it's been!
I've been a busy bee since I last posted. I got a new job that I started on Monday, so I was finally able to quit my old one. That also means that I'll be able to take on more commissions now than just 5 slots as I work now part time. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is a Resinsoul An in white skin. I'm getting better and better at doing blushing on white skin dolls without making them look normal skin! And then, part of the same order as the Resinsoul An, are some Dollmore parts. Kid Dollpire hands along with Small Kitty Ears. And then here we have a super cutie, a Dollzone Finggo I recieved in an order and simply didn't bond so I sold her. The buyer wanted me to paint her as a blue rose. Head is done, now I just need to get to her little body.
This face up also marks my 190th one! WOO!! |
