The weather has been a rollercoaster here, so working on stuff has been difficult. But I do have several things to post today, such as the last faceup of 2020. I haven't been doing so well health-wise, but I am arranging for the help that I need to get back on track with things.
Today I will post my Doll Chateau Elizabeth, a Dollzone Venus Halo, and a Modoll Hide Matsumoto minimee head. Without further ado, onto the pictures under the break!

I finished up two face ups for a new client from the USA yesterday, on their Hujoo Freya sisters. That sculpt is such a cutie, and so affordable! I painted for them a white and a light grey one. I also bought a light box finally, after like... 6 years of being a face up artist? About damn time that I did. I think one of the magnets in it is flipped though, so I have to take it apart a bit and see what's going on in there. But for €11 it's not bad. Anyway, onto some pictures that I took in the light box! Here are the two lovely girls. I wasn't able to get the white one's head off, so I wrapped her body in cling wrap and called it good. The light grey one was a good girl and let me decapitate her for painting. That sounds so horrible outside of the hobby, haha! Oh well. I'm just waiting to hear from the client and get paid for shipping so I can send these two cuties home.
I'm waiting on two boxes of commissions currently, and then later another, and then I should be able to open commissions again. Until next time! Well that was quick! I received a 3 head commission on Friday, and since I had nothing better to do and didn't feel like wiping any of my dolls I painted all 3 heads this weekend. I also blushed my LoongSoul ShenLuo's beast hands to boot.
The 3 heads were a Dream of Doll Petsha and two Doll Leaves Theresa heads. The DS heads are twins, but with different personalities. I had fun with all! Anyway onto some pictures under the read more cut! I got a new commission in a lot sooner than expected (Saturday) as the client had the head sent directly to me from the company. Either way, I buckled down yesterday and after painting almost all of yesterday and some this morning I got it done! The head is an Iplehouse Ashanti in grey skin. I was asked to make her look like a skull like a La Catrina. It definitely was a challenge, but a fun one! I've never been good with sugar skull face ups, but putting a realistic spin on the skull paint job definitely helped. Anyway, onto some pictures! The client had sent me a mock up of what they wanted for the face up, which definitely helped as well. I did end up painting over the wisdom teeth to make bigger jaw gaps. I haven't felt this challenged by a face up in a long time, I can't wait to see how she'll look once the client has her. I know the plans, but I'm not telling here yet!
I'm also now full for my October slots as I'm waiting on 6 heads from the EU, and about 4 more from the USA. I'm so excited to work on dolls again. I was having serious face up withdrawal. And no, I do not mean sniffing the sealant, I always wear a mask when spraying and letting the parts dry, haha! Anyway, that's all from me for now. Until next time! I actually finished this face up on Sunday, but I'm only getting now to posting it. This time I got to work on a Withdoll Elf Hunter Emma in grey-UV skin. That resin has a slight translucency about it, it's very pretty! Without further ado, onto some pictures! I was asked to do purple smoky eyes, black lips with gold flecks, and white eyebrows and lashes. White eyebrows are always such a challenge for me, even though I like the end result! Fantasy colored resin always provides me with a learning experience since I have to use different color palettes to make them look natural. Always a fun thing for me though!
Now for the FYI. I intend to reopen commissions at the end of this week. I'm almost done with all that I have to do currently (just got the Ringdoll Fat Happiness left, who needs a dye job and a face up), so I'm just about ready to take on more! Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement! Until next time! I finished up the two heads from last time yesterday with eyelashes and all. Both the owner and I are pleased with the end result. Without further ado, onto some pictures! The white skin head is a Soom MD Beyla Romantic head, and the grey one is a Soom MD Bygg human head.
I had a lot of fun with them, it was an interesting challenge making them so pink since I usually try to keep my blushing more natural. I also almost forgot to take my eyes out of the heads again. I had packed the heads up and everything, so I had to unwrap them and pull the eyes out. Whoops! Also, I'm not accepting any more commissions for this year as I'm leaving in a little over two weeks for Vienna, Austria to visit my family there for Christmas. I'll be there from December 20th until January 2nd. And as a last note, happy Thanksgiving to the USA peeps! I'm going to spend the day tomorrow with my wife and my mom having a nice homemade turkey dinner. Since I didn't have to go to either of my day jobs yesterday, I decided to work on face ups instead from the morning into the afternoon. I worked for about 5 hours non-stop on two heads, a Soom MD Beyla romantic and Soom MD Bygg human head. Due to the freezing temperatures (16ºF and lower), I had to go to my old college campus to work. I sadly didn't take into account that there was an event going on (a pretty big on, the art sale), so I had to hide myself away in a different area to work. Either way, I'm just about done with the two heads, I just ran out of steam after 5 hours and had to go home. I also got pretty hungry as I couldn't eat in the space I was working in, and didn't want to even try and pack up everything so I could go somewhere where I could eat and come back. Here are the WIP pictures so far. I need to punch up the pinks along the eyes and lips more, but otherwise they are just about done. I also need to check if the owner would like them to have applied eyelashes, and if so, what color. I'm hopeful I can work on them today to get them done. Someone asked me on one of the Facebook groups if I had used a stencil for the rose on the Bygg's face because it looks so perfect. That made me super happy because I didn't, it's free-hand.
Also I'm not accepting any new commissions until I get back from Austria in January, 2016. I'd rather not have to rush through them all, or have them sit for several weeks while I'm out of the country. Anyway, that's all from me for now! If I don't update before Thursday, happy Thanksgiving to all the USA peeps! I tried out my spray booth this morning when I couldn't sleep, and I must say it does make the MSC much more tolerable. It doesn't completely eliminate it, but it does a good enough job of it. Anyway, I wanted to show a picture of what I'm working on right now. She is about half way done at this point. She is in the rosy brown color that Withdoll offers. Very lovely for a drow/dark elf. I'm hoping to finish her soon.
That's right, a different friend with a light grey Hujoo Nano Freya asked me to give her a real basic face up as well. It took me a few days to get to it, but she is now done and ready to go home. She's really cute, but I can't get her to stop being wall-eyed. It's the way she's strung on the inside. She doesn't have an S-hook, the elastic just loops around the pegs her headback slides into. Now for the FYI. I'm going to be raising my prices by $5 coming October. Anyone that still contacts me and ships a commission to me before October will still get the current prices. Basically anything shipped after Monday will be the new prices. I have also now reached 90 face ups, so it's time for... another collage! I'm only 10 face ups away from my goal of reaching 100 this year. When I started the year I was at about 47. Either way, I'm super excited by the concept of possibly getting to 100 face ups within the next 3 months. I think I can manage that, but I wouldn't be able to do so without you.
So I want to say thank you to everyone that's supported me and commissioned me. I'll probably write up a real sappy post once I get to 100 face ups. That's right. I found time this morning to finish up the body hair blush on the Lumedoll and knock out the raffle winner's face up on top of it. Look at him be hairy! Now I just need to get him approved, paid, and shipped home! I hope his owner will love his look in person as well. She loved the pictures, but she hasn't seen the arm hair blush yet. For this boy I was asked to not fully finish the face up (no gloss or eyelashes) because the owner wants to do some more work on him. I can't wait to see how she'll complete him!
Yesterday I worked on the Lumedoll Rischa, making him super hairy. I'm nearly done with him, I just need to do the arm hair still, but I ran out of steam after working on him for about 5 hours straight. I'm quite happy with the result thus far, this is the first time I've done body hair on a doll, and only the third time doing facial hair. I was amazed at how tiny his eyes are.
Finished up the Hujoo Freya that a friend handed me to face up for her. She wanted her to look somewhat like a snow bengal, so I complied to the best of my abilities with working on just the head. I might blush her back a bit too, but this morning I only had time for the head. Isn't she cute? Detail shots below!
