Whew, finally got some commissions in and managed to finish a multipart one already! I only got to show the Goblin Tales Mossling spring edition that I painted for a dear friend of mine. Without further ado, onto some pictures. The FYI will come at the end! I poured a lot of work into this little critter, in fact I devoted most of yesterday to painting him. My friend asked for a little lady bug on his face, which I loved. So of course I had to make it look like the lady bug would travel along the face haha.
Now for the FYI: With January over and it officially being February for a few days, I raised my price points by €5 each for basic work. It's been over a year since I increased my prices last and I feel my added experience and skill warrants a higher price. This is only for new commissions, not ones where I've already given a quote. Those I will honor of course. That is all for now, until next time!

I was a busy bee this past weekend, finishing up 2 more face ups, and a fantasy parts blush on some wings I'd made myself and sold to a client. The face ups are on a Souldoll Vito Sean and my own Dollzone Daomiao-2. Sadly my lightbox decided to croak today and can't be used anymore without short circuiting whatever it is plugged into. It shut down my laptop twice until I realized what was going on... Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up are the wings I painted as sparkly as I could without using actual glitter on them. First I blushed them purple/violet with pastels, then coated them in 3 layers of Macropearl Shimmer from PearlEx, and finally sealed it with MSC Gloss to keep maximum shine/sparkle. I didn't install the magnets so that the client can choose which polarity to glue them in at. I did include the magnets however! Next up we have a Souldoll Vito Sean in normal skin. He'd had a custom face up from Souldoll, but the client wasn't happy with the facial hair. I offered my services to repaint him as I've successfully done facial hair in the past. The client also wanted the eye make up like in the default face up, and for him to have a light smirk. I'm quite pleased with the outcome though, and I hope the client will like the work in person too! A lot of hours went into that beard. Last, but not least, we have my Dollzone Daomiao-2 in normal pink skin. I'm not entirely satisfied with her eyebrows or eyelashes, but for now this face up is going to stay on her. I do want to get her lighter eyes. These were the only spare ones I had in her size, or close to it at least. I even tried out giving her eyelid crease lines, which I normally never do as I usually don't like the look of them. But I needed to pop her eyes a bit more.
I still have 3 things to paint, but one I'm waiting on until his body arrives to the owner. They are local to me, so we can huddle together to make sure the colors match, and if not, make them match! That's all from me for now, until next time! I was a busy bee these past few days. I managed to paint and finish up a commission that included a body blush and 5 face plates! The doll is a Goblin Tales Mossling in dark tan and orange. I still have more to work on for the client, like a pair of wings I sculpted and cast, but that is my goal for today. Without further ado, onto some pictures! Whew! There we go, all 5 faceplates plus the body. The body was all dark tan other than the lower arm pieces, so I had to paint the belly leaf and the inside of the ears lighter so I could match it to the faceplates. He's a little Autumn spirit, and I'm so glad I got to work on one of these cuties.
That is all from me for now, hopefully I'll have more work to show tomorrow! I was a busy busy bee these past few weekends and managed to complete two huge multipart commissions! There's so much to show I'm going to have to put things under the cut.
I completed the Nefer Kane Mystery Elf, Nefer Kane Sarina, Doll Chateau Snowman, and the Resinsoul Nian! I still have a lot more to work on of course, but I'm hoping to do that today despite the rain... Anyway, pictures under the cut! I finally finished up the Resinsoul Sui, now all that's left from that client is a Resinsoul Nian. The Sui left my whole desk purple, and so many cotton balls gave their life for his blushing! He was truly a labor of love. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble by just learning to use my airbrush, but I'd rather not experiment on client dolls... But anyway, onto some pictures! First up, his head. He's in white skin and his color scheme is purple and black. He actually currently has a silver wig, but I think a deep violet or black would be amazing on him too! I fought with the eyes because they are too big (Resinsoul included them). I haven't done scales like this in a while, but they look good on him! Next up is his body blush. He has muscles on his muscles. This boy is ripped. I extended the scales from the tail onto his back and blushed his body with purples again to match his overall theme. He also got restrung and sueded too! And to finish up showing his pictures, here's the rest of his fantasy parts in detail. Clawed hands, lizard feet, wings, and his tail. I didn't take a picture of the other side of his tail, but it's just a light violet, nothing too special. You can see it in one of the body blush pictures though!
I'm still very much closed for new commissions. I don't see myself re-opening until late September at the earliest... And I'll have to cut down on how many parts I accept per slot. With working 10 hour days my free time is very small and restricted to weekends only. I feel bad making my clients wait so long on face ups and such. For this client I have 1 more doll to work on, who needs a face up, body blush, restringing and sueding, fantasy parts blush, basically an all over job. Then for another client I have another 3 dolls to work on, and from a friend I have a smol Doll Family-A Luca dear to paint. Thank you guys for being so patient with me!! That's all from me for now, until next time! It's been a while since I've thrown an update up here. Work has been good, though it eats up my weekdays like no tomorrow. So I've had to cram my commissions into the weekend because I just can't logistically work on them during the weekdays (I work 9-10 hour days and commute for 2 hours every day). Anyway, that hasn't stopped me from making progress on my large commission list! The main doll I've been working on is the Resinsoul Sui. His colors are black and purple. His wings are huge, they are the length of my lower arm. Since I'm a herp derp and don't know how to use an airbrush, I've been blushing everything by hand with pastels. Let me show what I've done on him so far! Here's everything I've done on him so far. His head and fantasy parts are all done, all that's left now is the body. I got the first layer on the body almost done, and then I'll seal and do a second layer to make the colors pop more. Please excuse the crappy quality pictures, they were taken with my cell phone.
I've also restrung and sueded him, as well as fixed a broken finger. He arrived to me with a finger broken off and I decided to fix it good. I drilled a hole into the hand and the finger, inserted a metal bar coated in superglue, filled in the minor gaps with epoxy and once it was all cured I sanded it smooth. The first two times I tried to fix the finger with just super glue or epoxy it wouldn't hold. That is all for now, until next time! Now that I've been back over a week from my vacation trip to Turkey with my dad, his girlfriend, and my wife, I can finally get back to painting dolls! Before I left I painted my wife's Aimerai QT Melodie in white skin, and when I got back I repainted my own Soom FC Chrom in bronze and I gave my April Story Betty on the NB-SD16 body a tattoo on the left arm and manicure. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is my wife's Aimerai QT Melodie. This thing was truly a pain in the butt to work on... She does not like to stand or pose very well, and keeps flipping her wings around. And then my wife gave me a difficult concept to work with... carousel horse. I did my best, and she turned out cute, but boy am I glad she's done! I even gave her little earrings, and a mohair mane and tail! Here's my Soom FC Chrom in bronze with his new face up. I really like the blushing a lot more this time around. His last face up wasn't bad, but he'd chipped the eyebrows by face-planting too often (old SG Soom body, it really can't pose very well...) and he got a new wig. Here's the comparison to his last face up compared to his current one. He fought me bitterly on his eyebrows and eyelashes, but I persevered and won the war in the end... It took me like an hour of painting and redoing the eyebrows over and over. I even had to take a break because he was being that stubborn about them! I really need to get better white paint... In the Owner Gallery is a picture of him with his wig and body. Poor thing is unevenly yellowed at this point, but I still love him, uneven coloring and all! And now, last but not least, are the hands and the left arm of my April Story NB-SD16 girl body. I slaved over that tattoo for at least 6-7 hours, but probably longer. I did it in stages over the course of two days. Now I just need to tattoo her right arm too, but all in due time. This is the first full sleeve tattoo I've ever done and the first full color one to boot. I'm debating adding a fake ring onto her hand as she's a married character, but I don't have her husband so it feels moot to do it. Maybe this is when they were still dating and her college days. Yeah, I'll go with that! Here she is, and she definitely needs something on her other arm too, and maybe some cute little tattoos on her hips! I may also swap out her eyelashes for nicer blue ones that I got in from Taobao. I think that would look nice on her!
Anyway, that's all for now, I'm still open for commission and won't be raising my prices until summer so now is as good of a time as any to message me! Until next time! I was a busy bee the last week and finished up a gift for my sister, and a commission from a dear friend of mine. For my sister I worked on a Doll Family-A Mon and for my friend I painted their PinkVetch Voador flying pig and his mask. Without further ado, onto some pictures! Here's the Doll Family-A Mon in normal pink skin. I went with a stylized approach for him as his sculpting is very stylized. My sister asked me to write "Affe" (German word for Monkey) on his belly as a joke, but I did it anyway. I'll be handing him over to her in the next couple of days as he's her first and only BJD! Then here is my friend's PinkVetch Voador flying pig with mask in white skin. I easily spent over 4 hours in one sitting painting him and I wasn't done! I was given artist choice, so I picked some colors I know my friend likes and went with that. I actually really love how he turned out. I can't wait to see some owner pictures!
Also, I still have plenty of slots open. I decided to put off raising my prices for now. So if you have a head rolling around at home in need of a face up and like my style, please don't hesitate to message me! Until next time! I've been (figuratively) sitting on new work since the weekend, but didn't get to posting a blog 'til now. I managed to finish up a face up, body blush, and fantasy parts blush on a LoongSoul White Tiger Ye in white skin. I was given artist choice to revamp the little guy. So I did a Lisa Frank inspired leopard boy. I'll go over the FYI after the pictures. Now let's begin! For some reason, LoongSoul didn't embed the magnets for the ears in the resin, so they have to be taped on. The spots all shimmer in their respective colors, and I brushed shimmer powders all over the fantasy parts too. He's radiant to say the least! I can't wait to see what the owner will do with him. Here's a full body shot of him with a (terrible) mohair wig I made myself on him.
Anyway, now for the FYI: It's no secret that I'm moving to Austria at the end of this month (June 26th to be exact). I'm shipping all my face up supplies and other items per shipping container. That sadly means that I won't be able to work on any dolls for about 2 months, because the time is 6-8 weeks. I'm only taking one doll with me to have while I get settled, the rest of them are going in the shipping container. I'll need to revamp some things on the site for that then, which I'll do once I'm in Austria. I might even change the layout of the website! I've been debating it a while now since I haven't updated the site layout in years! Anyway, that's all from me for now, until next time! I had a productive Easter weekend where I finally painted my mom's Christmas gift (I had to wait to have some free time) and I painted a spare head of mine for a face up competition on IG. The doll for my mom is a Doll Chateau Larry that I scoured the secondhand market for to find last year after she fell in love with the last one I painted. The IG face up is on my spare Impldoll Azalea head. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the DC Larry for my mom. Sadly no wig because I haven't been able ot find one that fits her head. I picked a blue theme because that's my mom's favorite color. She loves how her little snail turned out. Second up is my face up for BJD Face Off on Instagram. I call it the Candy Abomination. We had to submit a blank head and then a theme was announced for the month for us to paint. I just wish that the theme was announced first... It was "Welcome to Candy Land". I'm the first to submit my face up so far.
Anyway, this is my spare Impldoll Azalea elf head I got through the Impldoll FB event. A friend of mine is taking her off of my hands in a trade for some BJD clothes. Oddly the face up is growing on me. Anyway, I should have some new work this week again! Until next time! I had a very productive weekend! I finished up the Aileen Doll Cyclops and got a face up done on the Impldoll Martin. I still need to do his body blush, mani/pedi, and do a scar mod on his thigh. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Aileen Doll Cyclops girl in white skin. I only had one eye the right size for her, which entertainingly enough came from another Aileen Doll Cyclops, but the boy version with the fully open eye. For this commission I glued in magnets for the horns in the head, nebula/galaxy face up, blush the horns, and do a mani/pedicure too with blushing. Then next we have the Impldoll Martin in tan skin. The client, a very good friend of mine, asked me to bronze him up a bit as if he's in the sun a lot as he's a surfer character. Now to just blush his body the same way! He also needs a shark bite scar mod on his thigh, which'll be a fun challenge for me!
Commissions are still closed currently as I'm painting my way through all my commissions. I have a rather large pile still to get through. Thank you for everyone being so patient with me. My hours at work will finally go back to normal in a week! WOO! That means I can devote more time to commissions again, I can hardly wait! Until next time! I had a very productive weekend and managed to finish the Doll Chateau Andre and start on another commission almost finishing it! I got to paint an Aileen Doll Cyclops girl, but she isn't done yet. Waiting to hear from the client on her so I know whether I can continue or if I need to make any changes. The weather was great this weekend so I took advantage of that! Without further ado, onto some pictures! Here are the detail shots of the DC Andre in white skin. He's the brother to the Jakov I painted last time with the black fantasy parts. Doll Chateau has such cute and unique event dolls, even if a lot of them don't pose too well, haha. Then here we have the Aileen Doll Cyclops girl WIP pictures. This is the only second time I've ever done a galaxy themed face up, I'd forgotten how much of a challenge they are, but also a lot of fun!
As mentioned before, I'm waiting to hear from the client to see how she likes the work so far. I'm hoping I won't have to try and do painted eyelashes on her, as every time I tried they looked really odd. So I kept wiping them away again. We will just have to wait and see! I managed to finish up the two face ups from the last post, and the body/fantasy blush for the Doll Chateau Jakov. The Fairyland PukiFee Halloween event faceplate only needed gloss as he was pretty much done. The Jakov needed his lips tweaked, gloss, and his body and fantasy parts blushed. Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is the Fairyland PukiFee Halloween event faceplate from a year or so ago. He's got a certain charm about him! The client asked for natural blush and freckles. Then we have the Doll Chateau Jakov in white skin, who is a little imp/demon boy. I've worked on one before, but he had a very different theme from this one! I always love how different owners style the same sculpts. I'm rather proud of the wings and tail as I did that all with pastels. One day I may learn to use an airbrush, but for now, pastels and brush work well for me! I will end this post with a full body picture of the Jakov all put together. I can't wait to see what the owner will do with him and the Halloween faceplate!
I've been a busy bee this past week with work, but I managed to get some new face ups and the such done! I'm hoping to work on even more today since it's the butt crack of dawn still, the whole day is still ahead of me! Without further ado, onto some pictures! First up is a friend's Fairyland MNF Rendia in tan skin. She is a sea witch, and I was given free reign on the lips, so I did a sea green fade. I felt natural lips would be a little bland. I always love working on this color resin, even if blushing sometimes is challenging. It's not often I get to apply piercings to dolls despite having all the resources for it. I also did a comparison to her default face up. It wasn't a bad face up at all, but I do feel that Fairyland put the eyebrows waaaay too high on it. My friend had added the piercings herself, which I copied over into the custom face up. Next up is the finally completed Doll Chateau Jakov for another friend. He was pretty much done, I just had to finish up his wings. He's a David Bowie tribute doll and is finally on his way back home to his owner. Safe travels, friend! This one is a Luts Senior Delf Isabella in tan skin. It is such a lovely color! I need to work back into her lips a little more and give them more definition. She's also getting a full body blush with freckles plus a french manicure. I'm hoping to work on that today in the afternoon!
That's all for now my friends, until next time! Sorry for the month long silence you guys, I haven't forgotten to work on commissions! I did get a bunch of them done, but not all of them are documented yet. I will post the two that I do have documentation for though! I worked on a Fairylanf RealFee Sira (not documented yet), a Dollzone Eudora, and Volks DDH-04. I'm also open for commissions, though I already have a bunch again! I'm expecting two more commissions within this week. Anyway, onto some pictures! First up is the Dollzone Eudora in white skin. What an odd, but cute little creature she is. The client asked for blue and purple tiger stripes along her head and body. She was a lot of fun to work on! Then here we have the Volks DDH-04 head in normal skin. She had a face up when she arrived to me, but it came off easily enough. This is only my third time doing an anime style face up. I'm proud of it even if I still have a lot to learn with them! She's meant to look like Yuzuki from Chobits.
Either way, I have one more Volks Dollfie Dream head to paint for that client, and then I'll be tackling the Luts dolls I get to work on. Until next time! |
Iza's Face UpsWelcome to the blog area of my site. Here you get to see my progress shots and the such of what I work on. Also I post news here. Enjoy! To Do List:
